Page 1 of 8 LEARN Works Snack Volunteer This position will work closely with the AmeriCorps VISTA in the preparation /distribution of daily snack, Monday-Friday. Moving forward we would like to see this as an independent volunteer role that would require minimal supervision. Preparing and delivering snacks to classrooms before program hours begin Ability to follow safe food handling procedures Delivering all supplies needed along with snack; plates, napkins, etc. Developing an awareness to children who have special dietary needs Reporting any supply needs back to VISTA Becoming familiar with snack closet and items that are accessed from Food Pantry Background check required for those 18 years old+ Complete a one-page agreement Complete Ada Jenkins Center release and waiver form Good communication skills Interest in the wellbeing of children and youth Bilingual (Spanish) preferred, however not required Ability to lift or carry approximately 15 lbs Ability to climb stairs, walk and/or stand for periods of time. If you are a student, you must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher Orientation/training on food safety and programs Complete and sign LEARN Works Acknowledgments, Code of Conduct and Volunteer Pledge Time 2:30-5:00 pm or 2:00-4:00 pm

Page 2 of 8 Substitute LEARN Works Volunteer About 80% of our regular LEARN Works volunteers are Davidson College students; when the volunteers are on break our LEARN Works program is in desperate need of substitute volunteers for the following date: Spring 2018 - January 3rd through 12 th - March 5th through 9 th - May 10 th and 11 th Assist elementary or middle school children with homework assignments and school projects Supervise students on laptops and their participation on assigned educational websites Coach students on challenging concepts using manipulatives and other creative resources Empower children to make positive life choices Must be 14 years old or older Complete a one-page agreement Interest in education and empowering young minds Good communication skills Patience, love for children Bilingual (Spanish) preferred, however not required If you are a student, you must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher Complete and sign LEARN Works Acknowledgments, Code of Conduct and Volunteer Pledge Time Based on the Calendar above during the following times: o 2:45pm 6:15pm for Elementary Students. o 4:00pm 6:30pm for Middle School Students.

Page 3 of 8 Spanish Translator A percentage of our client-partners are Spanish speakers, we rely on bilingual volunteers to act as interpreters with daily interactions across the Center. Volunteers will provide an environment which treats every person with dignity and respect. Ability to clearly communicate directions and explanations given by the Center staff Ability to clearly communicate client s questions and description to staff Assist Spanish speaking client-partners shop at our Food Pantry Assist Spanish speaking client-partners complete forms Maintain positive customer relations within a diversified population Proficient in English and Spanish, able to translate effectively in both languages Outgoing and willing to engage with others Time One to two shifts per week as follows: o Tuesdays 9-1pm o Wednesdays 9-2 pm o Thursdays and Fridays 9-12 noon o Fridays, as needed, for Dental Clinic 8:30am- 1pm

Page 4 of 8 On-Call/As-Needed Volunteer To help with As Needed Volunteer opportunities Center wide. Varies based on the needs of the Center. o This could be helping plant donated flowers, cleaning up after an event, setting up before an event, helping with a big campaign mailing, wrapping holiday gifts, baking cookies for client partners networking events, moving office furniture or other one time only tasks. Must be 16 years of age or older (Minors must be accompanied by an adult) Time Flexible around your schedule.

Page 5 of 8 Special Events/Development Volunteer Seeking outgoing individuals to assist in varying capacities with special events and fundraising events hosted by or in support of Ada Jenkins Center. Host smaller/medium scale fundraisers (Consignment Sales, Dine-Out Events, Ada Nights at local retailers) Serve as liaison on event planning committee (Gala, Mac-n-Cheese Cook Off) Locate event sponsorships Assist with event set-up & breakdown Preferred Skills: Excellent communication skills Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision Event planning or marketing experience Volunteers must be 16 years old unless otherwise noted on the event. Volunteers under 16yrs must be accompanied by an adult Time Varies and flexible

Page 6 of 8 Community Awareness Volunteer Seeking outgoing individuals to assist in varying capacities with Community Awareness Events, Volunteer Recruitment and Impact and Engagement events. Represent Ada Jenkins at local Community Events Man table/hand out brochures at awareness events Assist with event set-up & breakdown Other miscellaneous tasks Examples of events: Christmas in Davidson, college volunteer fair, etc. Volunteers must be 16 years old unless otherwise noted on the event. Volunteers under 16yrs must be accompanied by an adult. Excellent communication skills and outgoing personality Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision Marketing experience a plus Time Varies

Page 7 of 8 Pantry Food Demo & Nutrition Volunteer as needed Seeking enthusiastic and friendly instructors to conduct live cooking demo showing client partners how to make healthy, delicious and nutritional meals. Coordinate time and recipe options with Pantry Coordinator Recipe demonstration to the client-partners waiting to shop, includes food preparation and cleanup Participate in nutrition team meetings Assist with nutrition education and development related to the food pantry and overall Center Must be 18 years of age or above. No students from high school. Background check required Outgoing and willing to engage with others Knowledge of healthy eating and nutrition Ability to cook meals Excellent communication skills written and in-person Training Orientation to Ada Jenkins Time Monday, Wednesday and/or Thursday; 11:30am 2:30pm

Page 8 of 8 Dental Office Volunteer Office Volunteers will provide assistance to volunteer dentists and other assistance for successful operation of the dental clinic. Greet client-partners Process charts Assist with administrative duties Ability to work well with patients and other volunteers Respect confidential nature of client-partners information Ability to Speak Spanish a plus. Must be 18 years of age or above. No students from high school. Training: Volunteer Training and Orientation to the Dental Clinic Time Volunteer may choose how often they wish to work the following shifts. Huntersville -Tuesday 5-8pm or Wednesday, 4:30-8pm Ada Jenkins Center varying Fridays from 8:30-12pm or 12:30-4pm
