2018 Fairfield County Junior Fair Board Application OSU Extension - Fairfield County 831 College Ave., Suite D., Lancaster, OH 43130 PLEASE NOTE: The Fairfield County Junior Fair Board Constitution has changed as of 11/30/2017 which means selection criteria have been changed! Please review the attached Fairfield County Junior Fair Board Constitution for more information. For questionss regarding application and selection, contact Leslie Cooksey at cooksey.25@osu.edu or call 740-652-7272. Applications are due by 4:00 p.m. on January 5 th, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. to the OSU Extension Fairfield County Office. New applicants representing 4-H and/or FFA organizations will participate in an interview and selection process from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p. m. on Saturday, January 20 th, 2018 at the Fairfield County Ag Center located at 831 College Avenue in Lancaster. Junior Fair Board members are selected based upon this application and past 4-H and/or FFA and Junior Fair experience. Membership on this Board requiress the following criteria and a commitment to the board and other members. Requirements: Membership of the Fairfield County Junior Fair Board iss open to Fairfield County 4-H and FFA youthh between the ages of 14 and 18 years old. New 4-H and FFA Members applying to be members of the Junior Fair Board must turn 14 years old by October 1 st t of the current year to serve at that year s Fairfield County Fair. Must be a current 4-H and/or FFA member in good standing. Members should have at least two years of Junior Fair project exhibition experience. Must attend the Junior Fair Board Selection on January 20 th, 2018 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the OSU Extension Office Fairfield County (831 College Avenue, Lancaster). Must submit 2 letters of recommendation from adults (not related to you). One must be from the Junior Fair organization (4-H or FFA) in which you are a member. The second letter of recommendation can be from another adult (i.e. another club/chapter advisor, school teacher/guidance counselor, employer, coach, etc). Letters of recommendation should be in a sealedd envelope from the adult writing the letter for you. Major Responsibilities Include: Assist in determining the Junior Fair Rules and activity schedule and in planning and conducting Junior Fair activities, shows and events Assist at Quality Assurance Trainings, weigh-ins, taggings, premierr exhibitor testing, check-ins, and other events prior to the fair. Assist in getting Junior Fair facilities ready for shows and events. Assist judges and show superintendents with show ringg responsibilities during the fair. Attend all regular and special meetings and special events of the Junior Fair Board and show committees. If unable to attend, personally notify the Extension Office with your replacement. Maintain active and model membership in the 4-H and/ /or FFA program for your full term. You are expected to fully participate in all of the above activities and attend scheduled monthly meetings. Fairfield County Junior Fair Board Constitution (Rev 1988, 1992, 2005, 2009, 2011, 2017) ARTICLE I Title Section I: This organization n shall be known as the Fairfield County Junior Fair Board. ARTICLE II Purpose Section I: The purpose of this group shall be to promote the interest of Fairfield County 4-H and FFA youthh through their experience and activities at the Fairfield County Fair. Whenever possible, activities of Junior Fair Exhibitors shall be coordinated by the Junior Fair Board for the benefit of the 4-H and FFA organizations. Theyy shall assist and cooperate with the Senior Fair Board by carrying out the activities and events of the Fairfieldd County Junior Fair. ARTICLE III Membership Section I: Membership of the Fairfield County Junior Fair Board is open to Fairfield County 4-H and FFA youthh between the ages of 14 and 18 years old. New 4-H and FFA Members applying to be members of the Junior Fair Board must turn 14 years old by October 1 st of the current year to serve at that year s Fairfield County Fair. Section II: Members must be a member in good standing with the 4-H and/or FFA organization(s) they represent during their year(s) of service. Section III: Members should have at least two years of Junior Fair project exhibition experience. ARTICLE IV Board Members Section I: Membership of the Fairfield County Junior Fair Board shall consistt of representatives from FFA and 4-HH organizations in Fairfield County. Total membership not exceeding 30 members, plus Junior Advisors andd advisors. Section II: Membership of the Fairfield County Junior Fair Board may also include up to 5 Junior Advisors whoo have previously completed at least two years of service to the Junior Fair Board but will be seniors or older at thee time of the Fairfield County Junior Fair. Junior Advisors must still be eligible to be an exhibitor at the Junior Fair at the time in which they serve. ARTICLE V Selection Section I: The selection of Members and Junior Advisors to the Fairfield County Junior Fair Board will be as follows: The Fairfield County Junior Fair Board Adult Advisory Committee (c/o the 4-H Extension Educator) will select representatives from 4-H and FFA organizations for a one year repeatable term following an applicationn and interview selection process. The Fairfield County Junior Fairr Board Adult Advisory Committee will determinee which returning Junior Fair Board Members may need to repeat the interview selection process beyond their first year. Section II: Each member of the Fairfield County Junior Fair Board must reapply to remain a board member eachh year by January of the current year. Section III: Terms shall not be repeatable for members missingg more than two unexcused meetings per year or who do not fulfill their fair time responsibilities fully. It shall bee the member's responsibility to have a substitutee at the meetings should they be required to miss one. Members serving as a Junior Advisor willl not be heldd accountable for this meeting requirement but must attend everyy meeting possible. Section IV: Terms will run from March 1 st of the current year through February 28 th of the following year. Section V: Junior Fair Board Members who fail to perform their duties in a responsible and timely fashion may bee removed from the Junior Fair Board by the Junior Fair Board Adult Advisory Committee. Junior Fair Boardd Members may also be removed from their position for inappropriate personal conduct. ARTICLE VI Board Supervision Section I: This organizationn will be under the supervision of the Junior Fair Director and the Junior Fair Boardd Adult Advisory Committee. Section II: This Adult Advisory Committee will consist of two representatives from the Senior Fair Board, twoo Fairfield County 4-H Advisors, two Fairfield County Agricultural Education Teachers, Representatives of OSUU Extension, and 1 At-Large Advisor which is selected by the Junior Fair Board Adult Advisory Committee and does not have a term limit, but is reviewed by the adult advisors of this committeee annually.

ARTICLE VII Officers Section I: The following officers will be elected: President, Vice-President of Programming, Vice President of o Publicity and Finance, Secretary, and Corresponding Secretary. Section II: Officers will serve a term of one year in a non-repeatable position. Section III: Officers shall be elected by majority vote of a quorum of Junior Fair Board Members and Junior Advisors present at their organizational meeting. Section IV: Members should have completed at least one successful year on the Junior Fair Board before runningg for an officer position. Section V: Junior Advisors cannot run for officer positions. ARTICLE VIII Meetings Section I: Meetings and other required events/activities of the Fairfield County Junior Fair Board will be held as outlined in the schedule included in the application packet each year. Section II: Meetings of the Fairfield County Junior Fair Board may be called by the President, Vice President, thee Adult Advisory Committee, or the Junior Fair Director. Section III: Members of the Adult Advisory Committee may bring any item of business to the floor andd move motions, but are ineligible to vote. ARTICLE IX Amendments Section I: An amendment to the Fairfield County Junior Fair Board Constitution must first be approved by thee Fairfield County Junior Fair Board Adult Advisory Committee too be presented before the Fairfield County Junior Fair Board. Section II: Amendments will then be submitted to the members of the Junior Fair Board in writing at least onee week prior to the meeting time at whichh action will be taken. Section III: A 2/3 vote of the Fairfield County Junior Fair Board membership must be in favor of any amendment added to the constitution. ARTICLE X Board Responsibilities Section I: Under the direction and supervision of the Junior Fair Director and the Fairfield County Junior Fair Board, all members will aid in planning, conducting, and evaluating the Fairfield County Junior Fair activities, shows, and events. Section II: Members will assist in determining the Junior Fair Rules and activity schedule. Section III: Members will assist at Quality Assurance Countywide Trainings, weigh-ins, taggings, check-ins, andd other events prior to fair. Section IV: Members will assist in getting Junior Fair facilities ready for shows and events. Section V: Members will assist judges and show superintendents with show ring responsibilities andd recordkeeping during the fair. Section VI: Members will attend all regular and special meetings and special events of the Junior Fair Board andd Show Committees. Section VII: Individual Junior Fair (4-H and FFA) exhibit areass are as follows: Dairy Cattle, Beef, Swine, Sheep, Horses, Dairy/Angora Goats, Market/Meat Goats, Pygmy Goats, Llamas, Poultry, Rabbits, Crops, FFA Engineeringg and Production, Dogs, Companion Animals, 4-H Miscellaneous, 4-H Environmental Sciences, 4-H Engineering, 4-HH Nutrition, 4-H Clothing, 4-H Health and Family Consumer Sciences, Livestock Judging Contest, Super Showmanship, and Junior Fair Livestock Sale.
