Celebrate Idaho stars, and a Bright future on the horizon. join us Sun Valley, Idaho September 7-9, 2017 Registration deadlines sponsor: August 1 Individual: August 18

Dear Friends, We would like to personally invite you to join us for the 2017 Idaho Governor s Cup at the lovely and historic Sun Valley Resort, September 7-9. The Idaho Governor s Cup has grown significantly over the past 43 years thanks to the generous contributions and sponsorships from people like you. We greatly appreciate the impact your generosity and commitment has had on so many young lives. Thank you! Because of the many faithful supporters and sponsors, more than 250 scholarships have been awarded to Idaho students during the past ten years. That s 250 bright young people who have stayed in Idaho for their education, benefiting us all through their skill, drive and ambition right here in Idaho. This year 38 incredible students from all around the state have been selected to receive scholarships. These students not only excel academically; they also are wellrounded leaders who make community service a priority and have big dreams for their next academic endeavors. These students are pursuing a variety of academic majors as well as career technical education opportunities. We look forward to seeing what these young people will do and the impact they will have on Idaho s workforce. We re excited to see you in Sun Valley this September for a weekend of fun, supporting a wonderful cause while spending time with great friends and making new ones in this beautiful part of Idaho! As Always Idaho, Esto Perpetua C.L. Butch Otter Governor of Idaho Lori J. Otter First Lady of Idaho The Idaho Governor s Cup Scholarship The Idaho Governor s Cup Scholarship is available to high school seniors and home school students throughout Idaho. All proceeds from the Idaho Governor s Cup are dedicated to funding this program. Academic and career-technical awards are offered to those students who plan to further their education at an Idaho college or university and who demonstrate a strong commitment to public service. Academic scholarship recipients receive $3,000 each year, renewable up to four years, while scholarship recipients pursuing a career technical education or trade school education receive $3,000 per year for the length of the program, up to three years. By participating in this year s event, you provide more opportunities for Idaho students to further their education in our great state. For more information about the scholarship, please visit the State Board of Education website at www.boardofed.idaho.gov/scholarship/gov_cup.asp student appreciation I am greatly humbled to be one of the recipients of the Idaho Governor s Cup Scholarship. Thank you for your great generosity. This scholarship will make affording college achievable for me since I will be the first child in my family to attend college. Growing up in a household with a single mother of four children, I have come to understand the importance of a degree of higher education. Without an education, the career options that are offered are much less than the options offered to someone with an education. With that said, I am honored to be able to receive that education at Idaho State University this fall. At Idaho State University I will be a part of the Honor s college and I am planning to major in Biology with a concentration in Biomedical Sciences with an intent to go to dentistry school after finishing my undergraduate. Without scholarship donors such as yourself, I would not have the opportunity to pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a dentist and get my piece of the American Dream. Once again, I am humbled and honored to be a recipient of one of your scholarships and am extremely thankful that I will be able to attend college thanks to you. I am excited to attend Idaho State University this fall, and know that I will represent your organization well in the coming years. Sydney Soppe Graduate of Caldwell High School Attending Idaho State University

This award will allow me to reach new heights in my academic ventures. I will use it to fund my studies needed to complete a bachelor s degree in Accounting and Finance through the University of Idaho College of Business and Economics. This scholarship will allow me a certain level of financial security while studying to obtain my degree. It will make it possible for me to work less hours and pay for my schooling individually with minimal loans. After I receive my bachelor s degree I will attend the University of Idaho s College of Law. I am honored to be the recipient of an accolade of this stature. I would like to extend my greatest thanks to all those who help fund and promote the Idaho Governor s Cup. As a recipient of this award I can state its value is monumental. This scholarship will allow me to further my education and obtain a degree allowing me to pursue my dream career in law. McKenzie Kennedy Graduate of Grangeville High School Attending the University of Idaho "I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the generosity that has been offered to me through the Governor s Cup Scholarship. The financial assistance given through scholarships such as yours allow myself as well as many others to continue thriving toward success and thus the future of our great state. I am truly honored to have been selected for such a scholarship and I vow to work hard and not allow the opportunities you have afforded to go unnoticed. Starting a new chapter of my life has been both exciting and somewhat intimidating. The limitations of what I can accomplish as a young adult have been removed with your financial assistance, allowing me to focus on continuing toward both academic and personal success. With this scholarship, I plan to attend Idaho State University and continue my education and passion for forensics, a passion that would not be within reach without the generosity aforementioned." golf Men and women have the opportunity to play golf together on two spectacular courses, the Sun Valley Golf Course and Elkhorn Golf Course. Golfers who have an established USGA handicap of 36 or less are eligible to play in either the individual and team stroke format, or the team scramble format. Handicaps will be verified prior to the tournament. There will be three flights of gross and net individual play and in addition, each day will have a team event with winners determined by the best two scores of the foursomes. Winners will be named in both the gross and net contests in 2017. In order to manage the net component of the tournament, we need to calculate a team handicap for each team playing in the net format. If you have an established handicap please enter it in the box titled known handicap when you register online. If you do not have a handicap, please enter your estimated usual average score for 18 holes in the box titled usual score. A golf professional will assign a handicap for each player who enters a usual score. Tournament rounds begin on Friday morning and continue through Saturday and will be played on both the Sun Valley Golf Course and Elkhorn Golf Course. A listing of teams and the course you play first will be available at registration. We do not accommodate requests to play a certain course on a certain day. If you are playing both days of the tournament, you will have the opportunity to play both courses. A boxed lunch will be provided on Friday and Saturday. important event info This year, golfers will have the option to play their practice round at either Sun Valley Golf Course or Elkhorn Golf Course. Tournament play will be on the Sun Valley Golf Course and Elkhorn Golf Course. Please note that while tournament and practice round green fees are included in your registration, tee times and pairings for the practice round on Thursday, September 7 are your responsibility to set up. Please contact the pro shops directly. Elkhorn Golf Course 208-622-2251 Trail Creek Golf Course 208-622-2271 Registration is $1,500 per person on or before August 18. About the Golf Courses Elkhorn Golf Course Trail Creek Golf Course Originally opened in 1974, Elkhorn Golf Club was created in the last collaboration between the famous design team of father and son Robert Trent Jones Senior and Junior. After an extensive renovation in 2004, the club reopened in 2005 and was acquired by the Sun Valley Company in July of 2011. Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed the front nine, which is quite hilly, while Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed the back nine which follows a creek and has a water hazard on every hole but one. Sun Valley golf was most recently recognized by Golf Digest as one of the top 75 resort courses in North America. Sun Valley s signature course, Trail Creek, promises to provide a challenging round of golf for every level of player. Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed this traditional alpine course in 1980 with a full compliment of stream carries and ominous bunkers well positioned to catch the errant shot. Play crosses the beautiful Trail Creek seven times on the front nine alone! With large undulated greens, 7,214 yards long from the tips, and boasting over 100 sand traps and bunkers, Elkhorn will prove to be a test of your golfing abilities. Your concentration on the game of golf will also be challenged, as the vistas ranging from the Elkhorn hillsides to Sun Valley s White Clouds golf course fight for your attention. Coupled with fantastic views of the surrounding mountains and everpresent crystal blue skies, you will find a round of golf on the Trail Creek Course a well-earned addition to any golf resume.

Auction Auction more details 3 rd Annual All Idaho Gun In the past two years this auction has raised nearly $90,000 total for scholarships! At the 2017 Idaho Governor s Cup we are pleased to be able to offer another special firearm for auction, during Saturday s award ceremony. It is an example of rare innovation, presented by Joe Anderson, together with 13 Idaho manufacturers and distributors, with help from the Idaho Department of Commerce. The 2017 Idaho Gun, manufactured and sourced from Idaho companies is the only model of this gun available for retail sale. This firearm is unique and designed specifically for the Idaho Governor s Cup. It was displayed in Las Vegas earlier this year in the Idaho Department of Commerce s booth at S.H.O.T. Show 2017. Over $10,000 in retail parts, countless hours of coordination, and the rarity of the gun itself bring its total value to more than $12,000. It has the Governor s Cup logo expertly engraved into the hand guard. Plus the logos of the 13 Idaho companies who contributed to its creation. A custom paint job completes this firearm to help the Governor s Cup logo stand out.
