The week of the Academy is devoted to helping the church by strengthening and improving music for the honor and glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Students will have a fun-filled week of music education by exploring and improving their God given talents. The students will enjoy singing activities, including concerts, Christian fellowship, recreation, the finest staff to be found anywhere and the best food between here and timbucktoo. This Family Information Packet is designed to assist in planning by providing the student and family with important information about the Academy and the week s activities. DORMITORY AND RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM On-campus students MUST BE 8 YEARS OF AGE. Separate male and female dorms serve the students and staff. The dormitories are bunk bed style. The student will need to furnish linens, pillow, blankets, personal items, etc. Please refer to the Items listed in the To Bring section of this Family Information packet. Some dorm rooms are designed to share a full bathroom, including shower, commode and lavatory, with the adjoining room. A community shower and restroom in each dormitory serve the general population. Students are required to keep a clean and neat dorm room. A goal of the residential program is to help the student to make new friends and foster old friendships. The residential support Staff will provide supervision and support services to assure a safe, enjoyable and productive week while at The Academy. Dormitory students have a required dorm check-in and lights-out policy as follows: Age 8 to 12 must be in room by 10:00 p.m. lights out by 10:30 p.m. Age 13 and over must be in room by 10:30 p.m. lights out by 11:00 p.m. REGISTRATION & CHECK-IN DATE Friday, June 12, 2015 TIME LOCATION 4:00 6:00 p.m. Do Re Mi River Retreat, 275 Cedar Bluff Road, Hartsville, Tennessee 37074 Girls dormitory residents MUST BE age 8 or above. Boys dormitory residents MUST BE age 8 or above. Students under age 8 will register for SONGBIRDS CLASS and attend for a half day as a commuter. SONGBIRDS information may be found on the registration form and elsewhere in this packet. All SONGBIRDS classes begin Monday. Follow the parking signs upon arrival, and report to the registration area. Please bring your luggage, your personal items, and any remaining fees that you owe. Report to the registration desk for final registration (follow the signs). After registration, report to your dorm for room assignment. Staff will be available to assist with your luggage and check-in. Roommates are assigned by age according to space availability. Students may request a room mate in their age group, however THE ACADEMY RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MAKE FINAL BED ASSIGNMENTS. Dinner will be served from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, JUNE 12. After dinner, students will assemble in the pavilion for introductions, orientation and meet and greet. Dorm meetings will be held by the dorm supervisors and staff after assembly. 3

DORMITORY CHECKOUT AND CLOSING PERFORMANCE The closing performance will be held at THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, located at 773 East McMurry Blvd., (Hwy. 25 East), Hartsville, TN. 37074, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Students will have assigned seats for the performance and must be in their seats by 1:45 p.m. for recording sound check. The closing performance will run approximately one hour and half. WE REQUEST ALL STUDENTS TO WEAR CHURCH CLOTHING. The performance will be recorded and available for purchase on DVD. Saturday, June 20, dorm check out time is 11:30 a.m. Dorm staff will be available for assistance. Parents please plan to pick up your child by 11:30 a.m. at the Academy. LUNCH AND TRANSPORTATION TO THE CHURCH IS ON YOUR OWN. Local restaurants are listed at the end of this packet. ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO CLEAN THEIR DORM ROOM PRIOR TO CHECK- OUT. ROOMS MUST BE CLEANED & VACATED NO LATER THAN 11:30 A.M. PLEASE, DO NOT LEAVE CLOTHES OR OTHER ITEMS. DO RE MI SONGBIRDS The Primary Kids Class, called Songbirds, is offered for children under the age OF 8 years. Songbirds is a commuter class, and is offered daily 8:30 a.m. until noon (starting Monday). This class is designed to provide the young student basic instruction in shape note music. The student is encouraged through singing. Please note: THE SONGBIRDS CLASS ENDS AT NOON EACH DAY. The Academy does not provide child care service that will allow the student to remain on campus; therefore, the Songbird must be picked up at noon or approval must be obtained from the Director. Under no circumstances will the Songbird be allowed to remain on campus unsupervised. 4

IMPORTANT DAILY & WEEKLY DO RE MI HAPPENINGS Character traits will be taught and emphasized daily. Each morning and evening session will begin with a devotional. BRING YOUR BIBLE. Each assembly will begin and end with prayer. Daily meal plans for commuters are available for purchase either at registration or paid daily. Benefit singing Saturday, June 13, at 4 p.m. for our little Do Re Mi Singer Addy Clark. Worship services Sunday, June 14, at 11: a,m. with Bro. Jackie Dillehay, followed by lunch and singing in the afternoon. Nightly singing with public invited free of charge LETS SING! A special piano concert by our advanced piano instructor and Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame Member, Eddie Crook, will be held Sunday evening after dinner. The Do Re MI Singers annual singing at the historic Trousdale County courthouse steps will be held on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy an evening of the Do Re Mi Singers performing under the stars at the Trousdale County Courthouse in Hartsville, Tennessee! Special concert by our vocal performance instructors and Southern Gospel singing greats W & W, Jonathan and Jordan Wilburn, on Wednesday evening after dinner. Jonathan is former lead singer with Gold City Quartet for over 26 years! Shaving cream fight on Thursday afternoon after class. Fun, Fun, Fun! An all-student CD recording, our first ever, will be held on Friday evening and available for purchase. Closing performance will be held on Saturday June 20, at 2:30 p.m. at The First Baptist Church, Hartsville, showcasing Do Re Mi student talents and abilities. 5

COMMUTER CLASS A commuter program is available for those wishing to drive in daily for the day classes. registration form for commuter details and meal plans. APPROPRIATE CONDUCT & DRESS This week is dedicated to Christian fellowship and learning. All students should use conduct that is appropriate for Church events. Conduct should be exemplary before God. PARENTS WILL BE CONTACTED IF CONDUCT IS INAPPROPIATE AND RULES ARE NOT OBSERVED. School approved attire appropriate for public school is approved at the Academy, which may include, shorts, casual shirts, t-shirts and jeans. Clothing deemed unchristian in print and scope will not be appropriate. Please bring one Church outfit to wear for the closing performance singing. Each full-time student will be given a Do Re Mi Gospel Music Academy, Inc. l.d. lanyard for identification. The lanyard is required for safety and security purposes and MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES OUTSIDE OF DORM ROOM. LANYARDS SHALL NOT BE SWAPPED AMONG STUDENTS. T-shirts will be available in children and adult sizes for purchase for $15.00. PLAN TO ATTEND THE CLOSING PERFORMANCE SINGING You are invited to the CLOSING PERFORMANCE of all students and staff. The Closing Performance will be held at the First Baptist Church located on East McMurry Blvd. (Hwy. 25 east toward Carthage), Saturday at 2:30 p.m. A map is provided at the end of this packet. This musical program features the students and staff, and finalizes The Do Re Mi Gospel Music Academy week of activities. The MEMORIAL TROPHY, that represents our forefathers shape note legacy, will be presented to the top classroom. Please invite your family and friends, and feel free to bring your camera and video equipment. A dvd will be produced and available for purchase of the closing performance.
