Autism gives no respite...emergo does! 2016

Dear Friends and Donors: The Chairman s message This past year was a very big one for Services de répit Emergo: TWO moves! The first move was the relocation of the school and summer respites last September, as our former partner needed the facilities at Colonie Les Bosquets in Otterburn Park for its own operations. Emergo has now happily settled in to Domaine du Lac Bleu in Saint-Hippolyte, in the Lower Laurentians. The second move was for our offices: Emergo was lucky to find an attentive partner in Fondation Yvon Lamarre. Our two organizations searched together for offices that met Emergo s needs: a location near public transit to make it easier for our counsellors and also near major highways for better access to parents who transport their youngsters to our offices for their respites. So last April, our staff moved into our new offices that we chose on rue Jolicoeur, in the Sud-Ouest Borough of Montréal. During that time, the Foundation looked after raising the necessary funds for Emergo s day-today operations and also the expenses involved in the moves. To provide for potential additional expenses due to our moves, the Foundation held a second gourmet evening with prestigious wines. This evening event organized on the initiative of Robert Roy, a great friend of the Foundation and the Grandpa of one of our participants proved to be a real success. I would therefore like to take the opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks to him as well as to Robert Parker, the great, world-renowned wine critic, and also to wine-growers Michael and Jared Etzel, for their presence and for sharing their views and knowledge with us all. And lastly, big thanks to Louis Vachon, President of the National Bank, who generously treated us to a gastronomic dinner. And great thanks to all of you for supporting us at our various events and in our annual campaign. Without you, we couldn t provide our services to over 200 families of autistics who are in dire need of a respite. Jacques Chartrand Domaine du Lac Bleu, Saint-Hippolyte 1862, Jolicoeur Street 2

Board of Directors Officers - Directors - Jacques Chartrand, Chairman Manon Carle Dagenais, Vice-Chair André Beaulieu, Treasurer Sylvie Cataford Blais, Secretary Henriette Angers Luc Bertrand Roger Carle Francine Langan Josée Massicotte Robert Roy History Incorporated on May 25, 2011, the Emergo Foundation is now responsible for organizing and carrying out the annual fundraising campaign as well as for planning and efficiently and effectively carrying out fundraising activities. All revenue generated by the Foundation goes toward Emergo Respite Services. The Foundation gives Emergo Respite Services the funds needed for its operations and for balancing the budget, in conjunction with government grants and parents contributions. Mission The Foundation s main objective is to be able to accumulate a reserve fund to guard against setbacks, ensure the sustainability of services and carry out new projects. Administrative Operations In order to reduce its administrative costs as much as possible, the Foundation has no employees. Administrative work is carried out by Emergo Respite Services staff and is billed to the Foundation. The Foundation also benefits from the considerable support of its volunteers who play a very active role in organizing and carrying out annual events and campaigns. Through its constant involvement, the Foundation is able to reach its financial objectives and thereby make it possible for Emergo to fulfil its mission 3

Fund-raising Campaign The theme of the annual campaign was «Autism gives no respite... Emergo does!». Through everyone s efforts, the joint objective of the Foundation and Emergo Respite Services, set at $400,000, was largely surpassed. This annual campaign is essential to fully carrying out the mission undertaken by Emergo nearly 40 years ago: to provide respite to families living with autism on a daily basis. In addition, it helps maintain parents contribution as low as possible. Each donation, whether big or small, is important! We warmly thank all the donors for their generosity. Solicitation Campaign Every fall, we send out several hundred solicitation letters to individuals, companies, foundations and associations. Golf-cycling Event On June 10, 2015, our annual 2-in-1 «Golf or pedal for Emergo» event took place at Club de golf de Saint- Jean. Thanks to this tournament, which was held under a blazing sun surrounded by lots of good humour, we were able to raise over $80,000 net. Some 140 people took part in this very crucial day for our families, who have to face the daily challenge of autism. Once again this year, at our traditional auction organized within the supper, the items to choose from donated by our generous sponsors boosted the sales and made it possible to raise over $25,000. We also wish to express our very special thanks to our copatrons Groupe Robert and Les Industries Lassonde who have been giving us their solid support since the very beginnings, to our faithful volunteers who have taken up our cause and who come back each year, and to the many friends of Emergo who contributed to the success of this major event. 4

Scotiabank Charity Challenge For the first time, we took part in the Scotiabank Charity Challenge, an event that annually brings together some sixty charitable organizations and that has raised over $50 million, since its very beginnings, for such good causes. More than 30 runners, walkers and fund-raisers invested their time and efforts in this sports event, which brought us over $25,000 in proceeds. We look forward to your participation every year to take up this challenge with us and make this event a highlight of our fund-raising campaign! Wine evening On May 21, 2015, thanks to the initiative of Robert Roy and the participation of Jacques Chartrand, the Emergo Foundation held the second edition of its Wine Evening event. For this occasion, the National Bank generously invited us to its private dining room for a gastronomic meal, served to 80 guests, along with a chance to taste a variety of prestigious wines. Hosted by Natalie Hamel Roy and Marc Bertrand, this evening event enabled us to raise $284,800. We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to Robert Parker, renowned wine taster and world-renowned wine critic, who agreed to preside over this benefit event. We also wish to thank our invaluable partners, who made it possible for us to hold this event: the National Bank, Société des alcools du Québec, Société de gestion COGIR, Beaux-Frères and Domaine Roy et fils. Isabelle Élie Fashon Show A memorable evening was held on June 2, 2015 to support the Emergo Foundation: the Isabelle Élie Fashion Show. The designer welcomed to her boutique, on rue Laurier, women who appreciate both the style of clothing and the very personalized service that have become her trademark. This benefit evening made it possible to raise nearly $2,500: a wonderful success! 5
