Scholarships & Bursaries Year 7 2018 Dear Parents/Guardians Thank you for your expression of interest in applying for a Scholarship or Bursary with CBC Fremantle on behalf of your son. CBC Fremantle offers two types of Scholarship or Bursary to students in Year 7. The Brother Patrick Kelly Music Scholarship (for students entering year 7 in 2018) Brother Kelly is a past Principal of the College, serving with distinction from 1982 until 1992. He was the inspiration behind the development of the Music Department and the good reputation it currently enjoys in the Western Australian community. Indigenous Student Bursary Bursaries are available to the families of Indigenous students whose financial circumstances dictate that they would not otherwise be able to attend CBC Fremantle. Criteria Music Scholarships Applicants will be assessed on their music ability and aptitude and will meet faculty requirements. Applicants will be notified of an audition time and date after the close of applications. CBC Fremantle is also offering a Trombone Scholarship to assist in developing its band programme for 2018. Applicants will need to be interested in learning the trombone throughout Years 7 10 to be eligible. See attached information sheet for further details. CBC Fremantle is also offering a Voice Scholarship to assist in developing its choir for 2018. Applicants will need to be interested in learning voice throughout Years 7 10 to be eligible. See attached information sheet for further details. Indigenous Student Bursary Bursaries are available for the student s attendance at CBC Fremantle and cover the full cost of tuition fees for Year 7, 8, 9 and 10. The Bursary does not cover the cost of any other fees or charges which the College sets, nor the cost of books and uniform, nor the charges normally associated with any other programmes which the College may offer. Decisions regarding the awarding of Scholarships and Bursaries will be made by the Principal following an interview with the student and his parents. The Principal has the final decision on the allocation of Scholarships and Bursaries to CBC Fremantle. 2
Information Sheet Brother Patrick Kelly Music Scholarship CBC Fremantle is offering Music Scholarships to help in developing its band and ensemble programme for 2018. The scholarship entitles the student to individual music tuition on their instrument throughout Year 7 10. Trombone Scholarship CBC Fremantle is offering a Trombone Scholarship to help in developing its band and ensemble programme for 2018. The scholarship entitles the student to individual music tuition on the trombone and the use of a College trombone throughout Year 7 10 (where possible students are always encouraged to purchase their own instrument). Suitable applicants should have either played the trombone in primary school or be interested in playing the trombone throughout their high school life. Should there be no successful candidate on the trombone, the scholarship will be offered to other music applicants. Voice Scholarship CBC Fremantle is offering a Voice Scholarship to help in developing the choir programme for 2018. The scholarship entitles the student to weekly individual voice tuition. Suitable applicants should demonstrate an interest in singing and the ability to sing back and hold a stable pitch. Should there be no successful candidate for voice, the scholarship will be offered to other music applicants. The following conditions apply to the successful applicants: Students are expected to learn their instrument/trombone/voice from Years 7 10. Regular attendance at lessons. Regular practise routine at home. Involvement in College music programme including active participation in the College Choir and Ensembles. Application Form Information Scholarships & Bursaries for Year 7 in 2018 The attached application form must be received by CBC Fremantle by Tuesday, 21 March 2017. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Applications for Music Scholarship should include the following documentation. Please do not sent originals. - A copy of Year 5 end of year report. - A resume of the applicant s musical achievements and experiences. - Applicants will need to prepare one song for performance at audition. Piano, drum kits and guitar amplifiers will be available for students to use during their audition. All other instruments will need to be provided by the student. - You will be notified of exact audition date and time when applications have been processed.
