Limpet Mine Neutralization System (LMNS) Program Information Category: Abbreviated Acquisition Program Program Description: A small, inexpensive neutralization system for limpet mines. Consists of a hand-packed explosive tool and its attachments. Designed to be more effective against wider range of threats than in-service system (SWAG). Program Manager Assessment Characterization and Effectiveness to be completed in 3Q FY05. Effectiveness testing against live fuzed limpet mines (MK 1, VS-ss-22, and MDM7). Fleet evaluation in 4Q FY05 to include user explosive testing. Next Generation Underwater Breathing Apparatus (NUBA) Program Information Stealth EOD-M MK 16 Mod 2 VIPER E Category: Abbreviated Acquisition Program Program Description: Navy EOD MCM diving apparatus to replace inservice system. Closed circuit diving system capable of safely operating to 300 feet utilizing existing U.S. Navy Dive Tables. Program Manager Assessment NUBA FCT proposal integrated into Acquisition Strategy. Contract strategy includes Fleet Evaluation User Suitability as part of the selection criteria. Multi-Capability Enhancement Program (MCEP) Program Information Category: MK 4, MK 7, and MK 8 Capability Enhancement Program Program Description: Series of product improvements to MK 4, MK 7, and MK 8 MMS to provide each system with increased capabilities and greater interoperability. Enhances capabilities and flexibility of existing MMS to support the entire MCM mission in the DW, SW, and VSW zones. Operates in pre-assault and permissive environments; exploratory or clearance mode; reports bottom vs. moored mines; searches from station to station for buried targets; reduces footprint. Program Manager Assessment Coordinated group of product improvements to the MK 4, MK 7, and MK 8 MMS under three separate ECPs All MCEP enhancements and integration efforts expected to be complete by FY 2007. MK 4 will be enhanced to include DW mapping and pre-assault capabilities and will be integrated with the MK 7 and MK 8 MMS Detachments to provide DW capabilities. The EOD Ashore UXO Toolbag Toolbag Tactical Integration of Small UGVs with EOD Forces Rapid UXO Clearance Reduce Risk to EOD Technician Stand-of Disruption Remote Identification/Inspection Multiple UXO Clearance Ops

Man Transportable Robotic System (MTRS) Mission: The MTRS will be used in both peacetime and wartime operations by EOD technicians to perform remote reconnaissance at UXO and IED incident sites. Characteristics/Description: EOD reconnaissance tasks include locating, examining, and identifying UXO and IEDs. Threats include entire spectrum of conventional, special (NBC) and unconventional explosive ordnance. Large Improvised Explosive Device (LIED) Access And Disruption Systems Mission: Provides capability to the EOD technician to safely approach within visible or physical proximity to an LIED to enable further action and to prevent an LIED from functioning as designed through disruption or other means. Submunitions Clearance System (SCS) Mission: The SCS will allow the EOD technician to rapidly render safe/neutralize large quantities of submunitions by remote means. Characteristics/Description: The SCS will primarily consist of a modified commercial, remote-controlled weapons aiming platform and use a service-approved rifle. The aiming platform may be mounted to a vehicle, tripod, or robotic platform. The system will complement and augment the EOD technician during extremely hazardous EOD missions, specifically those related to scatterable submunitions incident sites.
