Southfield High School Marching Band & Auxiliary Will Be Parading In Washington, DC WHEN??: Leave Date: Thursday night May 26, 2016 Return Date: Monday night May 30, 2016 WHY??: Former Southfield Mayor, and newly elected Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence, submitted our band s name for the Washington, DC National Memorial Day Parade. We will be performing as Representatives for the State of Michigan. HOW MUCH?? Sample Itinerary DAY ONE FRIDAY, MAY 27, 2016 1. Arrival in Washington, D.C. 2. Meet your Tour Manager, who will escort the group through the duration of the tour 3. Sightseeing may include a panoramic motor coach tour of Historic Washington, D.C. 4. Check into the hotel 6. Visit the Marine Barracks for the official Evening Parade in resplendent Full Dress Marine uniforms (pending confirmation) DAY TWO SATURDAY, MAY 28, 2016 1. Breakfast at the hotel 2. Morning visit to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Remember the Children: Daniel s Story 3. Lunch, on own 4. Afternoon visit to Ford s Theater, the Petersen House 6. Evening walking tour of the Lincoln, Korean, Martin Luther King, Jr., Vietnam, and National World War II Memorials, as well as a view of the Washington Monument DAY THREE SUNDAY, MAY 29, 2016 1. Breakfast at the hotel 2. Take a tour of Arlington National Cemetery 3. Lunch, on own 4. Afternoon visit to one of the Smithsonian Institution Museums 6. Attend the official National Memorial Day Concert on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol, featuring the National Symphony Orchestra and broadcast live on PBS DAY FOUR MONDAY, MAY 30, 2016 MEMORIAL DAY 1. Breakfast at the hotel, followed by check-out and board motor coaches 2. Morning sightseeing may include one of the Smithsonian Institution Museums 3. Transfer to parade staging area on the National Mall where box lunch is provided 4. Participate in the National Memorial Day Parade on Historic Constitution Avenue 5. ENTITLEMENTS MEALS: Two meals per day plus one box lunch (as noted in the Tour itinerary) including breakfast and dinner. TOUR MANAGEMENT: One full-time, professionally-licensed Tour Manager on each motor coach who meets the group upon arrival and remains until departure to guide all excursions, maximize use of time, and enhance the educational value.
