FRIGATE NIEDERSACHSEN BREMEN (TYPE 122) CLASS frigate Together with her sister ships FGS BREMEN (F207), RHEINLAND- PFALZ (F209), EMDEN (F210), KÖLN (F211), KARLSRUHE (F212), AUGSBURG (F213) and LÜBECK (F214), FGS NIEDERSACHSEN (F208) belongs to the German Frigate Class 122 programme consisting of eight units. The first four units are subsumed under the 4th Frigate Squadron, the last four units under the 2nd Frigate Squadron. The homeport of both squadrons is Wilhelmshaven, Germany. German Navy Tasks of a BREMEN (TYPE 122) CLASS frigate General Task In conjunction with other maritime forces to provide the maritime capabili-ties required for the defence of the national security the support of Alliance partners combined and joint crisis response operations within the multinational framework of UN, NATO, EU or a coalition of the willing the fight against international terrorism. Detailed Tasks To conduct maritime interdiction operations including Maritime presence and surveillance Sea Denial Operations Sea Control Operations Protection of sea lines of communications (SLOCs), e.g. through escorting Boarding Operations To contribute to the promotion of stability and confidence building by establishing and maintaining friendly relationships with foreign navies. To provide assistance at sea within the framework of international and national regulations
