The Housing IT unit has now taken over responsibility for the provision of IT support for this important programme continuing the great work carried out by the Dublin.ie team. An award ceremony took place in the Mansion House on Friday 24 th November 2017 to honour the contribution of volunteers and students to date and to thank the Dublin.ie unit. 2. International Relations Twinning San José The first San José/Dublin Sister Cities Pat McMahon Masters Humanities Scholarship student arrived in Dublin on 23 rd January. The Scholarship Programme has been running for 7 years for Science graduates from Dublin to travel to San José, but following an agreement in 2017, we are now offering a reciprocal scholarship in the Humanities for a San José student. The recipient of the scholarship, currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Music Education, will attend DCU for the Spring semester from 29 th January until end May at which time she will take up a full time internship in the Arts Office until end August. She is being accommodated in an apartment in Temple Bar. She is being mentored by a former Dublin scholarship recipient as well as the Arts Office and International Relations Office teams. Introductions have already been made on her behalf with the Artane Band for either teaching or learning or both and it is intended to introduce her to the DIT Conservatory of Music. Liverpool Work is ongoing on a project between Finglas and St. Helen s in Liverpool with whom we are twinned since 1997. A scoping visit will take place in late February with a full visit scheduled for April. Beijing We are collaborating with Beijing on an art exhibition proposed by five artists from Ireland and China to be held in mid April for two weeks in the Beijing Eden Centre. During the exhibition Dublin City Council will have an opportunity to promote its own cultural offering UNESCO City of Literature, Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane and The Lab. We will be promoting One City, One Book, Dublin A year in Words and Words on the Street and showing videos promoting the Hugh Lane and The Lab. Conferences IWISH We will be supporting the IWISH conference in the RDS on the 29 th & 30 th January. IWISH is an initiative to encourage young women to pursue careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths). It is expected that over 5,000 students will attend. It will focus on current and future relationships, international linkages, potential for trade, investment, tourism, culture and learning and contain actions to achieve our aims and maximise our returns to the city. The Draft will be presented to the SPC. 3. Local Enterprise Office Dublin City Trading Online Voucher, Wood Quay, 26th th January 2018: Six Trading Online Voucher training workshop were held in 2017 with 549 clients in attendance. This very popular voucher provides financial assistance of up to 2,500 to qualifying small businesses, to develop their e-commerce strategies and sites, by creating or enhancing their online presence. The first Trading Online Voucher event in 2018 is scheduled to take place on the 26 th January with the second event being held on the 6 th March during Enterprise Week. Showcase 2018 RDS 21 st 24 th January 2018: An Enterprise Zone, sponsored by the Local Enterprise Offices, hosted five Dublin city businesses at Showcase 2018. This event held in the RDS from the 21 st 24 th January, saw LEO Dublin city client The Soul Engraver emerge as the overall winner of the Local Enterprise Award, presented by the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland (DCCOI) and Enterprise Ireland. Each of the participating business also completed the Building Craft and Design Business Programme delivered by LEO Dublin City in collaboration with DCCOI. The businesses received support and a subsidised stand at Showcase, and were delighted to meet with buyers, to raise their profile and to reach sales agreements. Kiki Moon: https://www.lovekikimoon.com/ Organic Cotton Baby Blankets Since launching I have very much focused on direct selling, but in recent months have started wholesaling to retailers in Dublin & Belfast. Showcase will give our relatively unknown brand a fantastic platform to introduce our high quality products to national & International stores, enabling us to pursue international markets, which is ultimately where we believe the market is for kiki moon products. As a small start-up, budgets are always very tight, so we would be delighted to have the opportunity to attend Showcase as a client of LEO Dublin city. 5

House of LEAF: https://thehouseofleaf.com/ Irish Handmade Silk Scarves Showcase would be an amazing opportunity to develop my business, in many ways. Showcasing my scarf collections to buyers from home and abroad, is a key element in the development of my business. To expand, to sell in store globally as well as online, to build brand awareness with industry professionals and to polish my sales language and learn to effortless communicate my brand and products. Winner of the Showcase Local Enterprise Award 2018 The Soul Engraver: http://soulengraver.com/our-story Hand Engraver with personalised jewellery design A place at show case is fundamental to the development and progress in making Soul Engraver a sustainable business. It opens the door to potential new customers that I would not otherwise necessarily come in to contact with. Having completed the Building Craft and design programme with LEO and the DCCOI in 2017, it was obvious to me that Showcase would be essential to Soul Engravers further growth. The opportunities are obvious and exposure over the course of the show will be invaluable. Emer Roberts: http://www.emerroberts.com/jewellery Jewellery, Design, Photography & Sculpture Taking part in Showcase 2018 will create confidence in my company and brand. Returning for a second year is vital in ensuring confidence in potential buyers that may have viewed my work in Showcase 2017. The practical experience is invaluable and the knowledge base and support of LEO for me to implement informed decisions. Kim Keohane: http://kimkeohane.ie/ Having developed my business over the last year I feel that I am ready to take the next step beyond online retail, I feel that Showcase would provide the perfect opportunity for me to develop existing and new relationships with key buyers and retailers both domestically and internationally and assist in opening channels to an export market and wider audience of customers. IWish Conference RDS 29 th & 30 th January 2018: LEO Dublin City is supporting the IWish Conference taking place in the RDS on January 29 th & 30 th January 2018.
