CV and its PURPOSE CVs for different purposes have different priorities ACADEMIC CV Demonstrate your value in accordance with parameters of academic relevance: publications, research, funding In grant proposals, CV required for the evaluation of the Principal Investigator Different formats and limitations (e.g. Academy of Finland TENK; ERC 2+2 pages; Tekes free) Tailor your CV, within the format of the application or specific guidelines 2
General CV guidelines Even if no page limit: 4-5 pages max. recommended Keep jargon to a minimum and write with clarity Describe your contribution to high impact publications or collaborative activities (Don't be modest) Use reverse chronological lists (newer to older) Avoid making your CV complicated: Easy-to-read fonts and type sizes Use categories, only those relevant to you Only use headings or bullet points (no prose or narrative CV) Make sure other people read your CV
