About Us Course Description Maternal mortality in the U.S. continues to rise almost 27 percent from 2000 2014 and more than doubled since 1990. The WHO estimates >1000 maternal deaths in the U.S. annually with approximately half felt to be preventable. Another 60,000 near fatal maternal events occur annually in the U.S. This conference aims to address obstacles to reversal of this trend by identifying protocols for risk assessment and early intervention as has been successfully applied in California.
