Moreover, a huge effort to build capacity in strategic planning in the Government Strategic planning training was offered to more than 2000 employees of the Federal government and over 500 employees from local governments 7

The UAE National Agenda was launched on the 4th of January 2014 5 Why was the National Agenda launched 7 years until 2021 To set clear objectives which drive the National efforts in the coming years To define measurable objectives which result in making the UAE among the best countries in the world by 2021

12 Government Entities were introduced to maximize levels of involvement and collaboration between the various parts of the Government in the development of National agenda

13 and employed creative and interactive methodologies to ensure high levels of engagement and participation within working groups to develop the NKPIs

Outcome of the innovation lab List of national indicators were developed to measure the living standard of citizens and the competitiveness of the UAE compared to other countries world wide Majority of the indicators revolves around citizens priorities 15 while the other indicators revolves around global comparisons It measures the country s performance vs. other countries in the most important global & international reports It measures the citizens wellbeing across various dimensions such as health, education, security and others

Among the top 20 countries Each NKPI has been clearly defined and detailed Average PISA Score example Definition: An indicator that reflects the country's ranking and scores in the PISA exam, which measures the reading, mathematics and science skills of 15 year old students. Main Sponsor: Ministry of Education Source: OECD Frequency of measurement: Every 3 years Scope: Federal and local across both private and public sector institutions 16 The UAE ranking according to the 2012 report: 46, with a score of 441 as follows: Reading (442), Math (434) and Science (448) Best 5 countries in the world according to the 2012 report: China (1 st ;587), Singapore (2 nd ;556), Hong Kong (3 rd ;554), South Korea (4 th ;542), Japan (5 th ;540). According to the 2012 report, the UAE ranked first among Arab countries The UAE aims to improve 60 points to reach 500. This improvement is the highest ever achieved. Indonesia, Peru and Chile currently hold the record with 30-40 points improved between 2000 and 2009 Rank 46 out of 65 10222021

INNOVATION LAB Citizen Involvement in the Government Cabinet Retreat

INTORDUCING INNOVATION LAB EXPERIENCE TO THE GOVERNMENT Innovation Lab Experiences provide a one-of-a-kind experience that blends creative facilitation, innovative approaches and collaborative problem-solving to accelerate team-building and the development of breakthrough thinking within and across stakeholder groups INFORM INNOVATE DEVELOP

To expedite the achievement of national agenda concerning main challenges facing citizens a unique brainstorming lab idea was developed A unique Ministerial retreat session conducted on 8-9 th Dec 2013 24 The first Government Innovation lab with unique participant that aims to brainstorm immediate solutions to the challenges facing the education and health sectors in the country.

This resulted in 25 initiatives to improve the education & healthcare sectors in the country Consist of a series of specialized workshops to discuss the current situation of the education and health sectors. Government innovation lab 25 This resulted in realistic and implementable solutions to which all stakeholders agreed.. These were followed by a brainstorming session which employed creative tools to generate innovative solutions.

Innovative Ministers Retreat 25 policies were developed 70,000 ideas from the community thru Social Media Gov. entities are encouraged to organize Government Innovation Lab

UAE has foreseen and built all the enablers required for achieving the Sustainable Development Goal 31 31
