Partnership Example UNIDO METRO Group PARTNERSHIP CATEGORY: Core Business Operations & Value Chains INDUSTRY: Retail PARTNERSHIP OBJECTIVE: Enable suppliers to gain access to new market opportunities, making supply lines more efficient, inclusive and sustainable GEOGRAPHIC SCOPE: Pilot projects in Egypt, India and Russia RESULTS & OUTLOOK: Cost-sharing business model developed and implemented Suppliers upgraded: Egypt: 90 India: 10 Russia: 22 Improvement in compliance with basic food safety standards (45% increase) and individual performances (14% increase) among participating SMEs The partnership served as a basis to develop a global Sustainable Supplier Development Programme (SSDP) Plans for scale up and roll out of the model to other regions and to non-food sector, also covering CSR/sustainability 12
