What the service does well The team at Creggan Bahn provide excellent care and support to people using the service and their families. There remained a high level of satisfaction from residents and families about the quality of care, food, accommodation and staff. We found that people's health and wellbeing needs were well-managed. Nursing staff ensured that health assessments were completed and personal plans produced to direct the care team about individuals needs and how they liked them to be met. Advice form relevant health professionals was sought and appropriate equipment was obtained where needed. Residents we met told us of ways their independence was promoted, preferences accommodated and how they had been supported to pursue meaningful leisure activities of their choice. The maintenance and domestic team ensured that the accommodation was presented and maintained to the highest standard inside and out. The chef's endeavoured to provide a range of attractive, well cooked meals and snacks in accordance with the needs and expressed wishes of the residents. There was strong leadership and robust quality assurance systems in place to monitor standards. Staff felt well supported and valued. This contributed to a motivated staff team who took pride in their work. The views of residents and relatives were welcomed and their comments used to inform the operation of the service. This ensured a continued high level of satisfaction from residents and families about the quality of care, food, accommodation and staff. What the service could do better The provider planned to continue to make improvements to the care home environment. This included redecoration work and some "dementia friendly" adaptions. The manager planned to review the accident/incident documentation used. The provider should continue to build upon the existing high standards to promote independence and positive outcomes for individuals within Creggan Bahn.
