Training provided by GSA Training Provider CAGE 7HU82 High Ground Training Group will provide a Level I Sniper course 26 February 2 March 2018 at the Tennessee Army National Guard Volunteer Training Site at Tullahoma, TN. A limited number of positions will be available for the course and will be provided to Law Enforcement Agencies on a first come, first served basis. Advanced course registration is required with cutoff for registration 30 days prior to the course. All information is required for application to be considered. Course positions will not be held without registration and payment arrangements - so we must have a registration completed and on file. The training program addresses the three basic fundamentals of police tactical marksmanship and sniping: Marksmanship, Fieldcraft and Tactics. The course is designed as an introductory course, but also provides an opportunity for the experienced sniper to tune-up their skills. 5 days, 40+ hours Sniper Course Physical Fitness Standards for Level I and II Sniper Courses Students should have a suitable level of physical fitness to perform the necessary functions of a police sniper. Students enrolling in any of the sniper courses should be able to: Run ¼ mile in 2.5 minutes or less while wearing field uniform and boots; Climb stairs and ladders while carrying standard sniper weapons and kit; Move rapidly from one shooting location to another and quickly assume necessary shooting positions; Be able to maintain shooting positions for extended time periods; Be able to negotiate multiple types of terrain crawling, walking and running while carrying sniper weapon system and kit. Failure to be able to complete any of the above may result in the failure to complete the course. Housing will be provided in Military Billeting (if available). All meals from Breakfast Monday thru Breakfast Friday are included. LEVEL I SNIPER EQUIPMENT LIST EQUIPMENT LIST Each trainee will need the following: Match Grade Sniper Rifle equipped with Optical Sight, Bipod and Sling in.308 Winchester or.223 Remington (5.56) (any other caliber must be approved prior to reporting for training) Quality Optical Sight (Recommend variable sight with tactical reticle) 500 rounds of Match Grade ammunition Spotting Scope with Tripod and Binoculars Logbook (Logbook and stencil will be provided to students as part of the Basic Sniper Course) Uniform (recommend camouflage BDUs) Headgear (recommend boonie style hat) Hydration system Load bearing vest as issued by department with duty belt and sidearm Appropriate Cold and Wet Weather gear for the season Eye and Ear Protection Calculator Pen and Pencil Pocket Notebook Weapon Cleaning Gear Insect repellant and sunscreen ADDITIONAL RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT (Mandatory for Level II Advanced Sniper Course) Protective Mask (for advanced course) Knife Fixed blade or folding tactical Multi-plier tool Pruning shear and/or portable saw Sunscreen Ghillie Suit, Sniper veil or other camouflage gear appropriate for rural stalking Camo Face Paint Extra Boots and Gloves in case of wet weather Ground cloth or shooting mat Special note in reference to Sniper Weapon Systems trigger weight All trainee weapons will be inspected by HGTG Armorers prior to live fire and any weapon having a trigger weight under 3.5 pounds will be deemed unsafe and sidelined with no exceptions. The trainee will be unable to continue the course of instruction with any rifle that the Training Staff deems to be unsafe. It is incumbent upon the trainee and his/her agency to ensure that the weapon system is safe for training and deployment. Any trainee weapon system that is deemed to be unsafe will result in the trainee being released from the course. No refund will be given to the agency for a release of a student due to a safety issue. Military weapons will be required to meet unit specifications.

Course Cadre Senior Instructor: Denny R. Elliott is a 25+ year veteran of law enforcement. He served nine seasons with the Kentucky Governor s Marijuana Strike Force where he served with a county wide element of a multiagency eradication team. He spent his last five years on the team as a Sniper and Sniper team leader. He served with a federal law enforcement agency where he developed the Tactical Marksman Program and oversaw the development of a tactical unit. He has acted as a consultant for other police departments in the area of patrol rifle. Denny served as the Tennessee state representative for the American Society of Law Enforcement Trainers (ASLET) for four years and is a member of the American Sniper Association, the National Tactical Officers Association and the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors. He is a certified instructor in Firearms, Tactical Rifle, Force on Force, Defensive Tactics, Baton and Edged Weapons. He currently serves as a Sergeant for the Williamson County Sheriff's Office commanding the Training Division. He also continues to serve as S.W.A.T. Training Officer and Sniper Element Leader. He developed the Level I, II,III and IV Police Sniper Courses which are owned by Sniper Pro Shop and presented by the High Ground Training Group. Sniper Pro Shop and High Ground Training Group utilizes select alumni of our past sniper courses as Adjunct Instructors. Many of these dedicated snipers come to assist in the course on their own time and at their own expense. We extend our thanks to them and their agencies for their dedication. Adjuncts are required to be current members of the American Sniper Association and have completed required reading and training assignments to better equip them to meet the needs of our sniper students.
