International Commission on Radiological Protection was established in 1928, whose former name was International X-ray and Radium Protection Committee (IXRPC). Independent and non governmental organization (Registered Charity in UK) It has Main Commission, Scientific Secretariat, five standing Committees and Task Groups, consisting of radiation protection experts from all over the world. 2

Bill Morgan (C1 chair, US) passed away suddenly on Friday November 13, 2015. Werner Ruehm (Germany) is current C1 chair. 3

The objective of the work of ICRP is to contribute to an appropriate level of protection against the detrimental effects of ionising radiation exposure without unduly limiting the benefits associated with the use of radiation. (2011 Annual report ) This presentation gives some information on: Load to making publications Activities related to Fukushima Nomination for membership in my experience as an Assistant Scientific Secretary from 2012 to 2014. 4

Oversees the daily operation of ICRP Prepares, organizes, and participates in all Main Commission meetings Is directly involved in aspects of the scientific and policy work of ICRP Represents ICRP at international meetings Speaks on behalf of ICRP at workshops, symposia, etc. Coordinates the publication of all ICRP reports administering the finances of ICRP etc. http://www.icrp.org/icrp_group.asp?id=49 5

Headhunting until 2009? Nomination for membership (only for five standing Committees) was applied in 2013 ー Two references are required, but not necessarily ICRP members. New MC Members will be selected by the nomination process in 2017 TG members are chosen by the TG chair. 9

17 years since last major system review commenced Main Commission planning a review beginning 2016 Claire Cousins, ICRP symposium 2015, Seoul. -TG91 Radiation Risk Inference at Low-dose and Low-dose Rate Exposure for Radiological Protection Purposes - TG102 Detriment Calculation Methodology - Updated results of LSS study may come soon. 10

International Commission on Radiological Protection is a non governmental organization. Main Commission, Scientific Secretariat, Five standing committees and Task Groups members consist of worldwide professionals related to all aspects of radiological protection. Fundamental recommendations are widely applied for international, regional and national regulations. Useful information, such as current ICRP activities, presentations and documents are available at the ICRP website (including Japanese translation of ICRP Publications) 11
