To allow these members to demonstrate a working knowledge of the rabbit and cavy industry. To explore critical thinking skills, demonstrate personal initiative and provide problem solving, decision making and goal setting activities for these youth members. ELIBIBILITY Applicant must be a current member of the OLRCB at the time of entry and participation. The age requirements and divisions are as follows: (age is the youth s age on the closing day of the OLRCB Convention) Years of age: 15 18, 12 14, 9 11, and under 9 Boys: King, Duke, Prince, Lord Girls: Queen, Duchess, Princess, Lady Applicants must attend the OLRCB Convention and Show, April 8, 2017 in Roseburg, Oregon. RULES Some Rules have changed. Please read carefully. 1. Applicants agree to be available and complete all events scheduled. Failure to do so may result in disqualification. 2. Any OLRCB Youth member must meet the following requirements to compete: Current OLRCB membership in good standing; Age consistent with royalty eligibility requirements. Non-Oregon residents, who are members of OLRCB, may participate in the Oregon Royalty. Non-Oregon residents will not be eligible for Foerstler Fund Assistance. 3. Applicants planning on attending the 2017 ARBA National Convention to be held in Indianapolis, IN, must participate at the 2017 OLRCB Royalty Contest. Exemptions may be granted if you petition the youth committee in the form of a letter sent to the Youth Committee Chair, prior to April 8, 2017. 4. Application must be made using the form provided by the OLRCB youth committee. This form is available from the OLRCB Youth Chairperson and the OLRCB Website. 5. While at the OLRCB Convention, contestants are the responsibility of their parents or chaperon. The chaperon must be of legal age.

6. Up to five pages, printed on one side only, of information may be submitted by the applicant. Each question must be included within this page limitation. There will be deducted for not following this rule. 7. Include your name at the top of each page of information submitted. There will be 10 points deducted for not following this rule. 8. The sum of the scores from the application, written test, interview, identification, and judging contests/showmanship will determine the winners. All 5 areas will have equal weight for scoring point totals. 9. Winners will be announced at the OLRCB Convention Banquet held on April 8, 2017. Need not be present to receive awards. Please plan to attend, if possible. 10. Send FOUR (4) copies of your original Royalty Written Application Direction Form and THREE (3) copies of your answers to questions #1 through #16! There will be 20 points deducted for not following this rule. 11. Enclose one portrait photo of yourself with the application! This photo will also be used at the OLRCB Convention. On the back of the photo write you Royalty age group, name, city, and state. Send photos sized no larger than 3 x 3 inches. This photo is part of your application. Failure to include a proper photo will result in a deduction of 20 points. 12. Email your answer to #16 and a.jpeg of your photo to lunybin1956@outlook.com Applications and photo become the property of the ORLCB Youth Committee and may not be returned. Applications must be postmarked by March 13, 2017. Forms received after the deadline will have 20 points deducted. Forms postmarked after March 17, 2017 will be returned. CONVENTION PROCEDURES Read Carefully some processes have changed. Saturday of Convention The royalty contest will be held in conjunction with the Oregon League State Convention. All Royalty contestants are to report to the contest area on Saturday by 9:45am. The contest will start at 10:00am. The contest consists of 4 parts: written test, oral interview, breed/color identification and judging contest or showmanship, depending on age. Judging: Each contestant in the King, Queen, Duke and Duchess Division will judge classes of 4 animals per class. This is a timed event of 7 minutes per class. Placements will be made on the special forms provided. The use of the ARBA Standard of Perfection at the judging table is encouraged. The use of judging aids or placing markers should be of very minimal size. Showmanship: Each contestant in the Prince, Princess, Lord and Lady Division will participate in either rabbit or cavy showmanship. Please see ARBA Rabbit Showmanship Standards or ACBA Cavy Showmanship Score Card available on the ARBA website. Breed Identification: Each Royalty contestant will compete in a breed identification contest. Contestant will be required to identify animals, both rabbits and cavies, listing the complete breed name, as printed in the ARBA STANDARD OF PERFECTION. They will also identify the showroom variety, whether a 4 class or 6 class breed, and the registration variety of each of the animals. No abbreviations are accepted. Written Test: All contestants will take a written test at the convention. The test will have true/false, multiple choice, matching, and fill in blank questions. This test covers a broad area of topics including management; rabbit or cavy breed information; and ARBA officers, history, and rules. The questions for this test will be taken from the ARBA Standard of Perfection, ARBA Guide to Raising Better Rabbits (like 4 H Manual), and the ARBA Yearbook. Volunteers will be available to read or explain the questions if you need help. Oral Interview: All contestants will be interviewed at the convention. The interview consists of a 10 15-minute oral interview with up to three adult members of the rabbit & cavy community. The oral interview covers information on you, your achievements, goals, management plans and involvement with rabbits and/or cavies. Contestants for interviews should be in proper showroom attire with a show coat or, at minimum, a long sleeve shirt. Please stay in the contest area until you are finished with the test and Breed ID. You might have to wait a short time to get through some areas of the competition depending on the facilities available. If you need to leave the area to get your animals to the judging table please inform us and keep checking back until you finish all four parts of the contest. Make sure you have put your name on all pages! A complete application will include: 1. Four (4) copies of your completed Royalty Written Application Direction Form, including your signature and your parent/guardian s signature. 2. Three (3) copies of your answers to the form s questions #1 through #15. 3. Three (3) copies of your answer to question #16. This will be printed in the OLRCB Newsletter if you are a winner. Everyone will read it so make it a good reflection of what you wish to say.

4. One photograph of you with your Royalty age division, name, residence city and state printed on the back. The photograph will be used at the OLRCB Convention. 5.
