Bob Cole Technical Trades Scholarship A Legacy Scholarship founded on a commitment to advancing technical trade skills Sponsored by the Robert Charles Cole Foundation. General Information The Bob Cole Technical Trades Scholarship will be offered in the spring of 2013, to a high school graduating senior or non-traditional student pursuing additional technical skills training. This legacy scholarship was established to honor the memory of Robert Charles Cole, an industrial arts teacher, coach and mentor for 40 years in the Meridian Public School District, located in Sanford, Michigan. The Scholarship The Bob Cole Technical Trades Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior or non-traditional student pursuing additional technical skills training. The scholarship offer will be a one time award in the amount of $500 USD. The scholarship may be used at any university, college or trade school offering accredited courses and degrees. Who is Eligible? A 2013 graduating senior or non-traditional student pursuing additional technical skills training is eligible to apply. Applicants may apply for only one Legacy Scholarship sponsored by the RCCole Foundation. What are the Requirements? Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements: Enrolled in a post-secondary accredited university, college, or trade school offering accredited courses and degree programs Demonstrated contribution to school and community in support of the RCCole Foundation's purpose: inspire/enable/enrich Submission of completed application including official transcripts, acceptance letter from educational institution, three letters of reference and a personal essay Legal resident of United states 2
How Do I Apply? Complete the official application. Applications may be printed or downloaded from the RCCole Foundation website, (RCColeFoundation.org), and should include: 1. One letter of recommendation from a previous teacher or employer. 2. One letter of recommendation from a community member. 3. A personal essay of 300 words that describes your commitment to the technical skills trades, what actions will support your commitment and how this scholarship will be used. 5. Verification of enrollment from the university/college/trade school registrar. Please use the "Verification of Current Enrollment" form included in the scholarship packet. 6. All application materials must be received by the RCCole Foundation Review Committee by the deadline printed on the application. 7. Applications that are incomplete or late due to postal delays, transmitted by third parties, or other circumstances will not be considered. Applications are accepted by mail or e-mail. Applications submitted by email must be signed and sent as a PDF. What is the Application Process? The RCCole Foundation Review Committee will evaluate applications and select the scholarship awardee. The Review Committee is composed of representatives from education, industry, service and community members. Decisions of the committee are reviewed by the RCCole Foundation Board of Directors who will announce the selection. How may I use the Scholarship Funds? 1. The Scholarship funds may be used for tuition, books, or instructional fees required for the program of study supporting the achievement of a degree. 2. Recipients are not permitted to defer the Scholarship. The RCCole Foundation Review Committee will consider new applications. 3. The Scholarship is a one time non-renewable $500 USD award. 4. Recipients may accept additional grants and scholarships from other sources. 5. Award payment will be made directly to the university, college or trade school upon verification of enrollment.
