2014-15 MILLETT HALL GUIDE Welcome! We are thrilled that you have joined us to cheer on the Miami University RedHawks! Miami University is a scholarly community whose members believe that a liberal education is grounded in qualities of character as well as of intellect. Inside you will find an alphabetical listing to assist you in having a pleasant and safe experience at a Miami RedHawks Basketball game! Arena Facts Millett Hall: John D. Millett Hall, named in honor of Miami University s 16th president, opened its doors on December 2, 1968, and serves as the home of RedHawk men s and women s basketball and volleyball. Millett Hall, built at an approximate cost of $7.5 million, houses many of the athletic department offices, as well as the university ROTC offices. The building also hosts commencement exercises, plays and concerts. Among those who have performed at Millett Hall are Bill Cosby, The Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, 50 Cent, Uncle Kracker, Ray Charles, R.E.M., Jay Leno, Barry Manilow, James Taylor, Bob Hope, Charlie Daniels, Goo Goo Dolls, George Burns, Gladys Knight, Josh Groban, Jim Gaffigan, and Hootie and the Blowfish. In 2014, Millett Hall underwent a major renovation, replacing all seats in the lower bowl as well as a new court design and enhanced lighting. Miami, in front of 9,135 spectators, lost that game, 86-77, but gained its first victory with an 86-67 triumph over Bellarmine two days later. The 9,200-seat arena, which has been downsized for basketball in recent years to 6,400, has provided the Red and White a strong home court advantage as Miami has won 75 percent of its all-time games at Millett Hall. Women s Basketball: Millett Hall has served the women s basketball team since the program s inception in 1974. The longest win streak in Millett Hall for the Red and White came between February 25, 1981 and November 29, 1982, when Miami turned away 12 consecutive opponents, including Purdue, Michigan State and Notre Dame. The record crowd for a Women s Basketball game at Millett was 2,837 set on February 19, 1886 against Ohio.

Alcohol Policy Alcoholic beverages are NOT permitted in Millett Hall. Guests identified with alcohol or who are intoxicated inside the arena may be ejected and will have the alcohol confiscated. Possession and consumption of alcohol are subject to the laws and regulations of the State of Ohio and/or City of Oxford which state, among others: No person shall have in the person s possession an opened container of beer or intoxicating liquor in any public place. Law Enforcement Officers enforce all applicable laws. Permitted Items The following items are permitted in Millett Hall: 1. Binoculars 2. Blankets 3. Cameras (still) with lens 1ft. or less 4. Cell Phones and Pagers 5. Bags smaller than 14 x 11 x 4 6. Rain apparel 7. Seat cushions 8. Small radios with headphones Prohibited Behavior Examples of prohibited behavior include, but are not limited to: throwing objects of any kind; demonstrating unruly behavior; attempting to enter the court; engaging in behavior that endangers the safety of student athletes, coaches, officials or other guests; and/or taunting event staff, visiting teams and/or public safety officials. Consequences for guests exhibiting prohibited behavior may include, but are not limited to: loss of ticket buying privileges, ejection from the Arena, and/or arrest. The University reserves the right to not enforce, within the sole discretion of the University, prohibited behaviors based on the interests of public safety, operational or staffing considerations or any other consideration.

Prohibited Items As a general rule, any items that obstruct the view of other guests or that can be use as projectiles, that interfere with the comfort of other guests or are deemed inappropriate/hazardous by arena security are prohibited. The following items are not permitted in Millett Hall: Alcohol Animals (except assistive animals for guests with disabilities) Audio Recording Equipment Backpacks Banners and Signs Beverages Bicycles Cameras (still) with lens greater than 1 ft. Clothing with profane, inappropriate or abusive language Containers (common examples include but are not limited to hard sided coolers, soft pack coolers, ice chests, picnic baskets, cans, bottles, flasks, thermoses) Computers/Laptops Confetti, streamers, glitter, balloons Food (persons with small children or medical infirmities may be exempt) Illegal Drugs Laser pointers Markers (permanent) and/or paint/dry Erase Boards Noisemaking devices (common examples include but are not limited to whistles, air horns, bull horns, blow horns, musical instruments, kazoos, bugles, cow bells, thunder sticks, sirens and boom boxes) Sticks or Poles Strollers and infant car seats/carriers Sports Equipment (common examples include but are not limited to balls, beach balls, footballs, baseballs, lacrosse balls, Segways or other motorized scooters, skateboards, and roller blades) Televisions Video Recording Equipment Weapons (common examples include but are not limited to aerosol cans, mace, pepper spray, firearms, including CCW permit holders, fireworks, pocket knives, knives, spiked bracelets, brass knuckles, martial arts weapons, stun guns, squirt guns, super soakers and chains) Wrapped Packages Guests are subject to visual inspection of person, parcels, bags, and clothing capable of concealing prohibited items. Guests may refuse inspections but management reserves the right to refuse entry. Changes in national, regional and campus security levels may affect security procedures. Tobacco Policy Smoking/tobacco use is prohibited on the campus of Miami University

Solicitation/Literature Resale of tickets, setting up a promotional space and/or distributing banners, booklets, business cards, circulars, commercial advertising, flyers, folders, handbills, leaflets, notices, pamphlets, posters, stickers, or any other written, printed and/or painted materials in or around Millett Hall without the permission of the Miami University Department of Athletics is prohibited. Groups need to submit in writing all pertinent information to Keanah Smith (smithka3@miamioh.edu) for approval. Requests need to be submitted no later than one week in advance of the desired time. Statement on Obscene/Objectionable Attire Miami University welcomes all ticketholders and students to University athletic events. Consistent with principles of good sportsmanship we establish high expectations for spectator conduct. Miami University prohibits persons from engaging in indecent, obscene and profane speech or wearing clothing with indecent, obscene or profane words or images while attending University athletic events. Miami University also strongly discourages any person from attending these events wearing clothing, or carrying accessories that objectify or denigrate any individual or class of people on the basis of their race, religion or ethnicity, etc. (e.g. wearing feathers). You may be asked to remove the obscene/objectionable attire/accessory or leave the event. Ushers/Security Ushers are located at the entrance to each section and are available to assist you in finding your seats or for any information or assistance you may need. Ushers will be wearing black Miami sweater vests. Uniformed Miami University Police Department personnel are stationed throughout the arena. In the case of a security incident, notify an Usher and / or nearest uniformed MUPD officer

FAN ZONE ATM's ATM's are not located in Millett Hall; the closest one is located at Johnny's Deli on Sycamore Street. Credit and debit cards are accepted at ticket windows and concession stands. Broken Seat Please report a broken seat or other things of that nature directly to the nearest usher. Concessions Concessions outlets located within Millett Hall offer a variety of food and beverages. The standard event menu offers customers snacks and an assortment of Pepsi product selections. There are four concession stands, one located at each end of each concourse. Miami University Concessions accepts cash, student meal plans and credit cards. We look forward to serving you your favorite game time fare while helping to make your visit to Millett Hall special. Thank you for supporting the Miami RedHawks. Now enjoy the game! Contests - In game Fans are selected at random to participate in any in-game contest. We do not allow fans to sign up in advance. To increase your chances of being selected, arrive early to the game and wear RedHawks gear. Those wearing merchandise from other teams (collegiate or professional) will not be chosen. Elevators The elevator at Millett Hall is located in the North West Entrance. The elevator is available for use by credentialed personnel and disabled individuals only. First Aid/Medical Emergency

If assistance is needed for a medical emergency, please contact the nearest Miami University Emergency Medical Technician, Usher, Concession Worker, Law Enforcement Officer, Oxford Fire Department Paramedic, or go to the nearest First Aid Room. First aid stations are located near the West (Main) Entrance, or adjacent to the elevator. Gate Opening Times The gate/door opening will begin 1 hour prior to the beginning of the game. Please be in your seats before the game begins to not distract the athletes or other guests. Guest Services The Guest Services room is located in 205 Millet. Guest Services will assist patrons with lost children, note customer remarks, handle emergencies, answer questions, etc. Lost and Found Lost and Found is located 205 Millett or give found items to your nearest usher or police officer. All unclaimed items will be turned into Miami University Police Department at the end of the event. Please contact University Police- Lost Items at 513-529-8135. Leave a message about your lost item. If the item is found, you will be notified. Mascot Swoop is the official mascot of the Miami University Athletics. To request a Swoop appearance at your event, please contact the Miami University Sports Marketing Department at 513-529-1611 for more information. Directions The Oxford campus is located 35 miles northwest of Cincinnati and 40 miles southwest of Dayton. U.S. Route 27 and State Route 73 are the main highways to Oxford. On game day select streets may be blocked or have traffic control officers giving directions. Please follow the signs and directions for your appropriate venue and parking lot. Below are detailed driving directions to the Miami University campus. From the North- I-75 south to I-70 west to SR 127 south (Exit 10, Eaton/ Hueston Woods); Turn left off exit ramp. Follow SR127 through Eaton and Camden to State Route 73; Turn right and follow SR 73 to Oxford. From the South- I-75 north to I-275 north (Take the airport exit which goes off to the left); Follow signs for Indianapolis/Cincinnati-Dayton); Follow I-275 east towards Dayton, take the Colerain Avenue exit (Exit 33) and turn left. This is Colerain Ave/ SR 27 north, this will take you into Oxford.

From I-70 going East- Take the SR 27 south exit in Richmond, Indiana; Proceed through Richmond and follow SR 227 South. SR 227 South turns into SR 177 once you cross into Ohio. Follow SR 73 and turn right. From I-70 going West- Continue west to SR 127 south (Exit 10, Eaton/Hueston Woods); Follow SR 127 through Eaton and Camden to State Route 73; Turn right and follow SR 73 to Oxford. Please allow extra time for entrance into Oxford on game days. Dogs Dogs, except for service dogs assisting visitors with disabilities, are not permitted inside Millett Hall. Merchandise Authentic RedHawks merchandise may be purchased on game day. For additional merchandise, visit www.shop.muredhawks.com. Official Game Day Programs are available for purchase throughout the arena. MiamiCARES! MiamiCARES! is a ticket donation program designed to ensure your donated tickets are given, free of charge, to youth in the Tri-County area. Preference will be given to financially, physically or emotionally challenged children in the Tri-County area. Please contact the Ticket Office at 1-866-MUHAWKS (1-866-684-2957) or 513-529-HAWK (513-529-4295) for more information on donating tickets. Paging Paging fans over the public address system is not permitted. If you need paging for emergency purposes, please contact the nearest Usher. To facilitate communication in case of an urgent request, please make sure that your friends and family know your seat location. Please recycle them on the way out of the arena. Valet parking or self-park service (Follow signage to car drop-off location) 3. If preferred, the West Millett parking lot or designated handicap parking (With proper identification) The East Millett parking lot will open one hour prior to tip-off. Parking Information Parking in University operated lots can be purchased in advance subject to availability by calling 1-866-684-2957 or at the Miami Athletic Ticket Office. Space is limited. Single Game Parking - $5 Men's Basketball ONLY

RV/ Camper Lots: To reserve a RV/Camper parking sport, please call 1-866-MUHAWKS (684-2957) or 513-529-HAWKS (4295) for more information. The RV/camper lot is located in the West Millett Hall parking lot and offers sports game-by-game. Parking lots open 2 hours prior to tip off: Miami University will not be responsible for loss or damage to vehicles parked for any athletic events or their contents. Holders of parking permits should clearly display their permits from the rearview mirror of their cars to assist parking personnel in directing them to the proper lots. Permits should be displayed at all times to avoid being ticketed or towed. All drivers should be alert to instructions from the uniformed police officer and parking personnel who will be directing traffic. Patrons are reminded that normal parking regulations apply on game day. Vehicles parked in fire lanes, at the end of aisles, and in any other illegal location will be ticketed and/or towed. If you are unable to find a legal parking space, please see a parking attendant for assistance. Spaces are available first-come, first-serve basis. Spaces may not be reserved for later arriving vehicles unless authorized by the Miami Athletic Department. Overnight parking is prohibited in all Miami University game-day parking lots. Automobiles are allowed to park in one designated space. Recreational vehicles must be parked within two designated spaces. Recreational vehicles will one be allowed into the lot with an RV pass. Space is very limited; throwing of footballs or other objects should be kept to minimal distances and out of roadways and other tailgater s areas. Repeat offenders may have their objects confiscated. Please be considerate of other fans trying to park in the lot. Fans may not display flags, balloons or signs more than 20 feet about the parking lot and also may not undertake any promotional, advertising or marketing activities in the Miami University lots without written authorization from the Athletic Department. Promotional Items/Dates The Miami RedHawks give away a variety of promotional items at designated games throughout the season. Promotional items have individual restrictions games throughout the season. Promotional items have individual restrictions (e.g. first 500 guest, ages 14 and under, Miami students, etc.) and dates and items are subject to change without prior notice. A game ticket does not guarantee the holder a promotional item. Promotional items are distributed one per person with no exceptions. Solicitation Miami University student groups are allowed to solicit and collect money for officially recognized charities, if preapproved by ICA, in the West Millett Parking Lot. Special consideration will be given to those raising funds for health care and awareness groups. Groups will need to send all pertinent information to Keanah Smith (smithka3@miamioh.edu) no later than 1 week prior to requested event date for approval. Groups will be allowed to approach people in the parking lot as long as they are wearing something that identifies their group or cause (button, shirt, apron, etc.)

Ticket Sales and Will Call The Athletic Ticket Office at Miami University is located in the West Side of the South Concourse of Millett Hall, during normal business hours. Visitor parking for ticket office guests is available in the East Parking Lot of Millett Hall off Bonham Rd. Hours of Operation: Monday- Friday 10:00AM- 5:00 PM (school year) 10.00AM- 4:30 PM (summer) Tickets can be purchased by calling 1-866-MUHAWKS (684-2957) or 513-529-HAWK (4295).
