Department: Municipal Court E-mail: yvonned@cctexas.com ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Non-rotating work week, Monday thru Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Must be available for occasional weekends and holidays as needed. Responsibilities: As a certified peace officer, acts as the chief officer of the Municipal Court. The City Marshal is responsible for: processing of Municipal Court warrants and other legal papers; court and courtroom security by overseeing the Deputy City Marshals, Deputy City Marshal Trainees and security personnel serving as the bailiffs during Court proceedings; managing the day-to-day overall operations of the Marshal's Office as well as security personnel; provides supervision, trains and prepares schedules for Deputy City Marshals and security personnel; contacts citizens regarding outstanding warrant information; keeps daily log of telephone and personal contacts; reviews sufficiently of warrant and/or capias before executing warrant; researches to determine the identity and location of defendant before executing warrant; serves arrest warrants and other required legal papers and updates defendant case information on the court system once warrants are served by the end of the shift; coordinates warrant processing with Warrant Division; keeps order in the court;
coordinates all security for the Court; provides backup support for City Detention Center; transports defendants to Court or to Nueces County Jail; maintains certification/training requirements for division; responsible for disciplinary measures consistent with the City and Departmental policies; responsible to assist with the preparation of the operating budget for section and general administration of the approved budget during fiscal year; performs administrative duties including developing, implementing, reviewing the standard operating procedures, reviewing and recommending training schools for professional development, managing expenditures for the City Marshals Division; performs related duties as assigned by Municipal Court Director and Assistant Director. May be asked to perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Requires a Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience in law enforcement. A combination of directly job related education, training and experience may be considered. A valid driver's license is required at time of application and hire. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire. Master Certification as Peace Officer by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) is required at time of hire. Maintenance of the TCLEOSE Certification is required while employed with the City of Corpus Christi. Continuing Education Credit (CE) up to a minimum of 20 hours per year is required. Knowledge of keyboard and personal computers. Must maintain firearm certification. ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Rotating Flexible Schedule up to 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Must be able to work additional hours as needed. Responsibilities: Executes municipal court warrants; providing courtroom security; serves legal processes; arrests individuals at their residence or place of employment. Enforces court orders and interacts with other law enforcement agencies and City departments; verifies identity then contacts defendants; inform defendant of the purpose of contact and make the arrest; before the warrant is executed, conduct a warrant check on each warrant to be served that day. Verifies defendant in CSI system, Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunication System (TLETS) and Police Records Management System (RMS) system to determine defendants warrant validity and other possible outstanding warrants; notify defendant of active warrant and advise to pay fines/fees in order to avoid arrest. Maintain professional and technical knowledge and skills by keeping required license/certification current. This position necessitates traveling/driving within the city.
