NORTH KENT ENTERPRISE ZONE At the heart of the Kent Innovation Corridor

Enterprise Zones are designated areas across England that provide tax breaks and Government support including business rate discounts (worth up to 275,000 per business over a 5-year period). They are great places to do business especially for both new and expanding firms. The North Kent Enterprise Zone The North Kent Enterprise Zone (NKEZ) is one of 26 new or extended Enterprise Zones announced by the Government in November 2015. It is situated at the heart of the Kent Innovation Corridor - a portfolio of key sites extending from Discovery Park, Sandwich to The Nucleus, Dartford. Combined they offer a mix of start-up, incubation and grow-on office and workshop spaces complemented by conferencing and other business support services and facilities. They bring together businesses in advanced technology sectors including: Life sciences Pharmaceuticals ICT Digital media and Specialist engineering. The NKEZ will operate across three locations: 1. Ebbsfleet Garden City: A cluster of three sites at Northfleet Riverside and Ebbsfleet Valley North East next to Ebbsfleet International Station 2. Rochester Airport, Medway 3. Kent Medical Campus, Maidstone The three sites once established from April 2017 - will offer great opportunities for commercial developers and businesses wishing to invest in new premises as well as start-up and existing companies in our target sectors looking to locate in the NKEZ. By 2031 the Garden City will be a vibrant, sustainable community with up to 15,000 new homes and 32,000 jobs, and boasting a high quality commercial centre capitalising on its excellent connections to central London and continental Europe. Innovation will be woven into the fabric of a Sustainable City, both in the place created and how it is delivered. Ebbsfleet is also designated as an NHS Healthy New Town improving the health of local people and building a healthy new community that promotes healthy lifestyle choices. Delivery of the Garden City is being led by the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation. The Enterprise Zone comprises a cluster of three sites: Coming on stream during 2018 Totalling around 26 hectares (64 acres) Accommodating 4,900 new jobs by 2025/26. EBBSFLEET VALLEY NORTHFLEET RISE: Located next to Ebbsfleet International Station and with the possibility of being served by an extension to Crossrail in the future. CONTACT: Delivery of the Garden City is being led by the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation. Up to 30,000m2 of high quality innovation space and potential higher education hub. Likely sector focus: digital and creative industries, environmental technologies, healthcare. NORTHFLEET RIVERSIDE EAST: Close to the River Thames, Gravesend town centre and complementing major new residential development. Over 16,000m2 of flexible managed workshop and innovation space and training facilities. Likely sector focus: advanced manufacturing, construction technologies, digital technologies. NORTHFLEET RIVERSIDE WEST: Linking the Thames to the heart of Ebbsfleet. Over 37,000m2 of mainly larger format industrial and high-tech workshop facilities, intended as a centre of excellence and production in construction technologies, high-end manufacturing and associated professional businesses and training disciplines. Likely sector focus: construction technologies, advanced manufacturing, design

Nearly 52 acres (21 hectares) Expected to create in excess of 1,000 new jobs by 2025/26 Site could accommodate up to 100,000m2 of innovative new business space (mainly B1/B2) and related facilities in a range of configurations and sizes, subject to detailed planning. The adopted Masterplan for the airport site provides for remodelling the operational airport, releasing around 21 hectares of predominantly greenfield land for redevelopment in two main parcels to the west and south of the airport. Detailed planning approval is expected in summer 2016, with new premises available from late 2017/early 2018. The vision is to grow high quality, high value businesses specialising in the advanced manufacturing, engineering and digital technologies, including hybrid space for prototyping, research and development and industry-standard training. The zone will capitalise on Medway s existing strengths as a centre for advanced manufacturing and engineering - as home to major technology companies such as BAE Systems - and well-established links with the University of Greenwich s Faculty of Engineering and Science. It will offer new opportunities for clustering of companies supplying into globally-important markets and collaborative ventures utilising shared services and facilities. Likely sector focus: advanced manufacturing, engineering (particularly automotive and aerospace), digital technologies, med-tech. Rochester Airport is located within the Medway-Swale Arc Assisted Area, so there may be scope to offer businesses the incentive of enhanced capital allowances as an alternative to business rate discounts on a specified part of the site.
