CRN Vision Clinical Research is an integral part of healthcare for all. The NIHR CRN supports clinical research infrastructure throughout England, which is working towards increased access for patients to new and better treatments in the NHS. The CRN currently recruits over 600K patients annually into clinical studies and supports a national portfolio of research from a wide variety of disciplines. Evidence clearly shows research active trusts have better patient outcomes
CRN Support We provide researchers with the practical support they need to make clinical studies happen in the NHS, so that more research takes place across England, and more patients can take part. This practical support includes: 1. Reducing the red-tape around setting up a study. 2. Enhancing NHS resources, by funding the people and facilities needed to carry out research on the ground. 3. Helping researchers to identify suitable NHS sites, and recruit patients to take part in research studies. 4. Advising researchers on how to make their study work in the NHS environment
How we support research- on the ground NHS Service Support Costs are the additional patient care costs associated with the research, which would end once the R&D activity in question had stopped, even if the patient care involved continued to be provided. Examples of NHS Service Support Costs: 1. The processing of the patient record to identify patients who may be suitable to approach to ask if they wish to participate in a research project. 2. Obtaining informed consent. 3. Additional investigations, assessments and tests where the results are required by the patient s care team to ensure patient safety and where arrangements are in place to feed the results back to the clinician.
How can the CRN help? Study Support Service- helps researchers and the life sciences industry plan, set up and deliver high quality research to time and target in the NHS in England.
