ASC Grant Opportunities for Individual Artists Summer 2017 Information Session
The Regional Artist Project Grant Program (RAPG) provides funds for individuals and groups of unincorporated artists to pursue projects that further enhance their artistic development by attending a professional development experience or purchasing/renting a piece of equipment.
RAPG supported by: N.C. Arts Council, a division of the Department of Cultural Resources The Blumenthal Endowment Cabarrus, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Mecklenburg, Lincoln, Rowan, Rutherford, Stanly, Union, and York (SC) Counties.
RAPG Eligibility Permanent resident (at least 12 months) of one of the participating counties 18 years of age or older Not enrolled in a degree-granting program Please note: Artists on the staff of one of the participating arts councils OR artists who received a Regional Artist Project Grant within the last 2 calendar years (Projects that took place on or after January 2016) are not eligible to apply.
RAPG Grant Requests Open to all disciplines Requests are up to $2,000 (no match required) Grant dollars must be used to support a single purpose. Open to both new and established artists
RAPG Review Process Artistic Merit Evidence of overall artistic excellence (based on individual artistic level) Evidence of a commitment to pursuing or maintaining a career as a practicing artist Project Merit Evidence that the proposed project contributes to the individual s/ group s artistic growth Evidence that the proposed project is feasible and the budget is realistic John W. RAPG Work Samples Submit work samples completed since 2014. Clearly label all with your name, title of work, and date of work. Visual Artists Eight (8) digital images upload through the online application system. Music, Dance, Theatre, and Film/Media Artists Links stated in work sample list or mail four (4) DVDs to your local arts council. No more than 3 minutes will be reviewed by the panel. Please indicate which 3 minutes you want the panel to view on your work sample list. If no indication is given, the panel will review the first three minutes. Literary Artists Up to ten (10) pages of manuscript. Literary artists must upload their work sample through the online application system

RAPG Draft Review Each county has their own Arts Council Representative their contact information is available in RAPG FAQ s. Use Email Draft button in the upper right of your application screen to send a draft to your representative or to a trusted colleague or friend. Draft review period is scheduled September 11-15, 2017 Must be received before 12noon September 15 to receive feedback.
RAPG Application Deadline Friday, September 22, 2017 NOON through the online application system. Late applications are not accepted This is a very competitive program. Last year 91 applications -- 32 were funded
