2016 GRANT INFORMATION 2016 Open to individual artists for workshops, conferences and training opportunities or to provide funding for arts projects that have not been previously funded by R2AC. This grant offers quick funding for arts activities happening in the next six months. Individual artists can apply for grants up to $500. Start Date* The start date should be approximately one month before your project is to take place or before you have to contract for services and be at least two weeks after the grant review date. I am eighteen years of age or older and am a U.S. citizen or have permanent resident alien status. I am a resident of the state of Minnesota, as determined by the address I use for voting and the payment of taxes, and I live in one of the following counties: Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard, Lake of the Woods or Mahnomen for at least six months out of the year. I have established residency in one of the following counties: Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard, Lake of the Woods or Mahnomen at least six months prior to the deadline/submission date for this grant. 2016 3

I am not a current member of the Anishinaabe Arts Initiative Council, the R2AC board or staff, or a member of their immediate family. (Immediate family is defined as: spouse, domestic partner, parent, child, child s spouse, brother, brother s spouse, sister, or sister s spouse) The proposed project or activity has arts as its primary focus. The proposed project or activity does not promote violence and/or racism and does not have pornographic content. (Please note it is at the board s discretion to deem an activity objectionable) The proposed project or activity does not proselytize a belief or involve the religious socialization of the audience or participants. The proposed project or activity is not intended to raise funds for an organization, charity, or cause or to start or build an endowment. The proposed project or activity does not seek funding for equipment, capital improvement, building renovation, or building construction costs. I have not failed to return grant funds to R2AC after having any R2AC grant contracts/agreements terminated or funding revoked. I am not in violation of any past contractual agreement with R2AC, such as an overdue final report from a previous R2AC grant. I have not already applied for and received a Quick Grant for Individual Artists during this fiscal year (July1, 2016 - June 30, 2017). The proposed project or activity not currently receiving funding from an R2AC grant award and/or is not seeking to use funding from more than one R2AC grant. This project or activity is not seeking funding for an annual event that has received R2AC funding in the past. If public art is a part of this project then the proposed project or activity falls within the parameters of the Public Art Policy. If literary arts are the focus of this project, the proposed project or activity falls within the parameters of the Literary Art Policy. If the focus of this project is film, television or other video media, the proposed project or activity falls within the parameters of the Film/Media/Television Art Policy. 2016 4

WORK SAMPLES Work Samples In support of your proposal, you must provide digital samples of your current works of art (work done within the last five years is preferred) or artwork for the artist(s) you plan to invite to teach, perform or present as part of the proposed arts project. Please follow these minimum/maximum requirements depending on the arts discipline of your project. Individual Artist (or the performing arts group you are part of) 5 visual art samples (.jpg) 5 pages of writing (.pdf) (Please read our Literary Arts Policy) Link(s) to 1-3 music/performing arts samples of 2-4 minutes each via YouTube, Vimeo, SoundCloud, or DropBox. News media about past performances are not allowed as work samples. You may upload/link promotional items in the Supplemental Information section. Please Note: To ensure a fair process, staff will remove any work samples beyond the maximum allowed. No samples, or too few samples, will make your application ineligible. Questions? PLANS FOR THE FUNDS Artist Statement* Write a brief Artist Statement describing your artistic style and who you are as an artist. (Limit of 1,000 characters) Character Limit: 1000 Proposal* Provide a brief description of the entire arts project or activity that this funding will support. Include your proposed timeline, as well as information on participating artists, locations, and audiences (if any). If these funds are meant to cover only a portion of a project or activity, please provide additional detail for that portion. The entire project must be completed within six months of the award date.
