Additional Scholarship Information Applicants wishing to be considered for the John C. Leeper Scholarship MUST: Submit a statement of mentorship from a certified chiropractor. The form is available on the scholarship Web site. Applicants wishing to be considered for the Grainger Tools for Tomorrow Scholarship MUST complete a separate application. Please see the Scholarship Office. Scholarships apply to WKCTC credits only. University of Kentucky and Murray State University credits through UK College of Engineering extended campus at WKCTC are not eligible for funding. Student must be a WKCTC student. Other KCTCS college credits (non-wkctc) are not eligible for funding. Though not required, the Scholarship Committee often reviews statements made in the Optional Describe Any Financial Need and Describe Any Honors, Activities, Awards, Clubs, etc. when choosing between several well-qualified students. A student s application should appear as though they are genuinely seeking a scholarship not just completing a form. Properly written statements in these types of sections reflect on the student (complete sentences, no abbreviations, non-texting language, etc.). The Scholarship Office recommends a student type these statements in Word and cut and paste into the application. EVERY CMC or CSP student should be compelled to present a statement in regards to his/her financial need in the Describe Any Financial Need section to partner with the required FAFSA information. When completing the online scholarship application please type all information carefully. The scholarship database does not self-correct names, addresses, etc. or correct capital and lowercase letters. The format in which you submit your information is the format in which all correspondence will be prepared. Full tuition is from 12-15 credit hours per semester. Some exceptions apply. Scholarship amounts are determined by funding availability. Merit scholarships offered to current high school seniors (including Commonwealth Middle College and Community Scholarship Program students) are eligible for renewal for a second continuous year of study. Students must complete a minimum of 24 graded college hours by the completion of the spring semester and must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or greater. General, need-based and other scholarships are not renewable. It is the student s responsibility to ensure that all supporting documentation is received (not mailed) by the stated deadline. The WKCTC Scholarship Office is not responsible for reviewing a student s application for completion. Incomplete applications are not considered for funding.
MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS Merit scholarships are available to current high school seniors and currently enrolled WKCTC applicants. HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS Current high school seniors (including Commonwealth Middle College and Community Scholarship Program seniors) are eligible for merit scholarships at WKCTC if: 2. An official seventh-semester transcript and ACT score has been submitted with the Counselor Verification Form. Schools using block schedules should provide a transcript as of December 31. 3. They meet additional GPA / ACT, class rank or National Merit requirements listed below. 4. They are a full-time student (12 15 hours). Merit Scholarships are eligible for renewal for a second continuous year of study. Students must complete a minimum of 24 graded college hours by the completion of the spring semester and must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or greater. PJC Middle College Scholarship (Full Tuition After Other Aid) Available to seniors attending the Commonwealth Middle College. The scholarship covers the remainder of full tuition after all financial aid and additional scholarship awards (including KEES funding) have been applied. ENDOWED AND NEED BASED SCHOLARSHIPS An endowed scholarship is an award based upon stated criteria. Students should consider endowed scholarship award criteria when completing the scholarship application and providing information. A need-based scholarship is an award that is based upon stated criteria as well as evidence of financial need. The WKCTC Scholarship Committee considers the FAFSA-calculated EFC (expected family contribution) as an indication of financial need. All students are encouraged to complete a FAFSA and submit a copy of the web confirmation page to the Scholarship Office by the application deadline. Students who do not submit a FAFSA web confirmation that includes an EFC will not be considered for any scholarship where financial need is indicated.
