The conference will be focused around lectures, workshops, discussions, teambuilding activities and community service projects that will address aspects of leadership. Details: Instead of taking the holiday off, participate in Winthrop University MLK Day of Service on Monday, January 15, 2018!! The Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service is Winthrop's biggest annual volunteer event that brings students together to do community service! The MLK Day of Service event honors Dr. King's legacy of service by working with the community and building unity and relationships across campuses and communities around the world. It is a powerful opportunity to serve in our community and learn about the different kinds of service you can participate in throughout the year. February Events Student Leadership and Diversity Conference Date: February 3, 2018 Time: 7:00 AM 5:00 PM Location: University of South Carolina Details: SLDC provides an exciting opportunity for students and staff from institutions across the Southeast to network and explore important issues in diversity and student leadership. With 30+ educational sessions and keynote speakers, SLDC trains and educates participants in: Essential leadership skills for a diverse society Developing a leadership identity Creating initiatives and methods to foster sustainable positive change Maximizing their student leadership experience Black History Month Celebration Film Festival Date: February 5, 2018 Time: 10:00 AM 6:00 PM Location: Barnes Theater Baxter Hood Center Details: Students can view multiple films throughout the day between schedules or after class.
