Professional Leadership and Expertise Other Research Projects Clinical Trials North Shore Orthopaedic Registry Purpose The goals of this position are: Medical staff Registrars and summer students Clinical Nurse educators Nurse specialists WDHB Research Nurses Knowledge Centre Clinical coach Duty Managers Allied health team Household support staff Research Director Orthopaedic Operations Manager Research Assistant/Associate Research & Innovation Manager Awhina Knowledge Centre Patients and their families Primary Health Care Providers Medical Company Personnel Clinical Research Monitors Volunteers and related groups KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Manage and co-ordinate the establishment of the North Shore Hospital Orthopaedic Registry Liaise with external suppliers of database software (OBERD) and WDHB IT staff to establish IT infrastructure for the registry Work with orthopaedic nurses staff to establish registry processes and ensure smooth implementation Once established, management of registry data to ensure accuracy and maximize follow up of patient reported outcome measures Provide regular registry reports and basic analysis in consultation with statisticians Assist with the establishment, ethical approval, and running of prospective clinical trials in the orthopaedic department Provide support for protocol development and ethical applications, including design of patient information sheets and consent forms Assist with patient education, enrollment, and follow-up Manage study data, and ensure accurate data entry and complete patient follow-up Assist Consultants, registrars, and students with individual research projects and audits Provide support for protocol development, ethical applications, and locality approvals where appropriate Provide research advice and logistical support where appropriate Practice meets the standards of the profession, ethical and relevant legislation requirements. Accepts responsibility for safety and quality of practice and conduct. Practice is provided in a culturally safe manner and supports the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi/ Te Tiriti o Waitangi: protection, participation and partnership.
