DeLand High School was proud to honor our Seniors receiving scholarship awards on Wednesday, May 4 th. At this ceremony Seniors were called up to receive their awards and be recognized by students, parents and faculty. This year were please to present over $2.3 million dollars in scholarship money. To say we are very proud of these seniors would be an understatement, and we look forward to what the future holds for them. Avery Tyler kicked the night off when she was awarded the Alicyn Bouie Educational Scholarship - presented by the Volusia Association of School Administrators. She was also awarded the Flagler College Scholarship, and Phi Delta Kappa Future Educators Scholarship.
Erika Gaebel was the recipient of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 6 scholarship, United States Marine Corps Scholastic Excellence Award, and a scholarship from the University of Richmond.
Joshua Dargan was also a recipient of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 6 scholarship as well as the United States Marine Corps Scholastic Excellence Award.
Ryan Kasbeer was the recipient of the Bob Foulds Memorial Scholarship, and one of two Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Golden Eagle Scholarship recipients. Corben Champoux was one of our biggest recipients. She was recognized for the Gator Club of West Volusia Scholarship, Florida College System Chancellor s Award, Burger King Scholars Award, DeLand Kiwanis Club Scholarship, District 35-O Lions Club Youth
Exchange Scholarship, Florida Credit Union Scholarship, Junior Service League of DeLand Scholarship, and Friends of the Paisley Library Swaby Scholarship. Diamond Williams was another Senior that pulled in a lot of accolades. She was a recipient of the Vince Carter's Embassy of Hope "Believing in Your Dreams" Scholarship, Central Florida Foundation - Foard Award and Recognition Scholarship winner, Electralytes Charity Club, Inc. Scholarship, Lucille Wheatley Scholarship, West Volusia Retired Educators Association, Adesso and Son - Adesso Academic Integrity Scholarship, and The Daytona Beach Chapter of The Links, Inc.

This year s Charlie Lundell Memorial Scholarship - Sponsored by ME STRONG was presented to David McLeod by Mrs. Lundell, Kim Winters, Kathy Guyer and Kim Martin (not pictured). DeLand High s ROTC FL-023 Cadet Flight Commander Emily Turner was recognized by Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award, Student Leadership Award, and the United States Marine Corps Semper Fidelis Award for Musical Excellence.
Maia Carr and Greg Nye were both recipients of the United States Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Awards and the DeLand High Athletic Boosters Club Athletic Leadership Scholarships. Greg Nye was also recognized by Temple Israel of DeLand with the David Bigman Memorial Scholarship.
Antonia Oliveros was recognized for the West Volusia Retired Educators Association Scholarship, OneBlood Medical Scholarship, and the Daytona State College Foundation Scholarship.
This year s DHS Athletic Scholarship Award winners were Tyler Frost, Tessa Colden, Garrett Capman, David McLeod, Mitch Bailey, Kasey and Kendra Trickey (L to R). Not present were Abigail Bradley, Sherae Cherenfant, Quinn Dawson, John McCormack, and Kayla Washington.
This year the DeLand Kiwanis Club recognized Ellie Nompleggi and Corben Champoux with scholarships. The finalists for this year s DeLand Rotary Club Finalist were Ellie Nompleggi, Reilly McNamara, Catherine Sarro, and Briana Hurta.
Ellie Nompleggi was the recipient of this year s DeLand Rotary Club Scholarship, and George Marks Elementary John Thomas Scholarship. Bailey Ott was one of two recipients from DeLand High for the DeLand Women's Club Scholarship Award. Kayla Washington was also recognized.
Suni Duran Penton was also recognized with scholarship from Electralytes Charity Club, Inc.
Calli Brown and Ryan Kasbeer both received the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Golden Eagle Scholarship. This year s recipient of the Florida Region of USA Volleyball - Kevin Schar Memorial Scholarship was Tessa Colden.
Hannah Langrick was this year s recipient of the FUTURES Take Stock in Children Scholarship and Medallion.
DeLand High s talented Karegan Wodz was awarded the Manatee Festival Scholarship. The Junior Service League of DeLand presented awards to Corben Champoux and Taylor Kopka.
Destinee Perry was recognized with the Mary Baldwin College Scholarship. Mr. Moyer posing with our Daytona Beach News-Journal s Medallion of Excellence Award Winners; John Michael Flowers and Reilley McNamara.
Our very own Health Sciences Teacher, Ms. Hunt, was beeming with pride as she presented OneBlood Medical Scholarships to two of her Seniors; Katarina Penzel and Antonia Oliveros.
Richard Lee Long III was presented with the Paul Prescott Scholarship.
John Michael Flowers was also recognized for being the recipient of two awards for Pop Warner Football: East Coast Conference Scholarship and the South East Region Terry Chancey Memorial Scholarship. Lauren Bautista was awarded a scholarship to the Savannah College of Art and Design. Stetson was on hand to recognize the DeLand High Seniors that have committed to attending next year: Aria Larson, Robert Pickren, Chhagan Bakrania, Samantha Fore,
Emily Montalvo, Ameera Shaw, Kyle Burda, Johanna Tooley, Jane-Elizabeth Taylor, Michaela Lowenstein, Thomas Moret, Camryn Soehnlein, Lucas Hanson, and Derek Hopkins. Air Force Lt Col Luis M. Villanueva was on hand to present a full scholarship to William Taylor to the Air Force Academy in Colorado.
The United States Army was more than happy to recognize our Bulldogs that have signed contracts to enlist and serve their country and receive the Post 9/11 G.I. Bill. Jesus Avilez, Isaiah Deleon, Jose Estrada, Stacey Martin, Robert Mayo, and David Simpson. Matthew Grapper and Emily Tyler were welcomed to the stage by SSgt Angel J. Bustos to be recognized for their commitment to their country and the Marines. Nathaniel Barthelemy will also be awarded the Marines Post 9/11 G.I. Bill for enlisting.
Petty Officer Second Class Christopher Trawick of the United States Navy was on hand to recognize our Bulldogs that will be trading in their land legs for sea legs by enlisting for the Navy Post 9/11 G.I. Bill. Austin Barlow, Hector Sabastro, and Christopher Fayard were recognized for their commitment.
Briana Pape was our third Bulldog of the night to receive a scholarship from the West Volusia Retired Educators Association. Last but not least, we had three Bulldogs that were recognized with the Volusia County Fair Scholarship; Mason Bishop, Robert Doyle, and Garrett Moss.
DeLand High Seniors that will be receiving the Air Force Post 9/11 G.I. Bill are; Devontae Oaks, Christopher Ray, Raina Rodriguez, and Jose Vazquez. We had two scholarships that were awarded where the recipients were not able to join us for the evening: Ana Swartz will be receiving the James Outlaw Scholarship.
