YOUTH IN LODZ PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES ENCOURAGING YOUNG PEOPLE TO THINK ABOUT THEIR FUTURE IN LODZ SUPPORTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF PROFESSIONAL CAREER OF STUDENTS OF LODZ HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS PROVIDING LOCAL ENTREPRENEURS AND POTENTIAL INVESTORS WITH HIGHLY QUALIFIED STAFF The Youth in Lodz programme is widely recognised. A survey conducted on a representative group of Lodz students shows that 98% of people who have heard about any activity aimed at young people, spontaneously mention the Youth in Lodz programme. The initiative is conducted by the Investor Service and International Cooperation Bureau at the City of Lodz Office, and the leading Lodz higher education institutions and over 250 companies from Lodz and the region are its partners.

APPRENTICESHIPS AND INTERNSHIPS ARE OFFERED E.G. BY

THE PORTAL OF APPRENTICESHIPS AND INTERNSHIPS It is an initiative aimed at students and graduates of Lodz higher education institutions and employers from Lodz and the region. Its objective is to support young people in gaining additional qualifications and professional experience during apprenticeships and internships in Lodz companies, as well as to provide recruitment support for employers in reaching the best candidates. At www.praktyki.lodz.pl, registered employers can place advertisements regarding available apprenticeships and internships for free, as well as manage their profiles and the added advertisements. The advertisements are additionally published at www.mlodziwlodzi.pl On the website, there are over 630 registered employers. COOPERATION RULES The website is designed for employers having their registered offices or branches in Lodz or the Lodzkie Voivodeship that offer apprenticeships and internships in Lodz or the Lodzkie Voivodeship. Registration and posting of advertisements on the website is free of charge.

FUNDERS OF INTERNSHIPS 2017

WORK AS AN APPRENTICE IN LODZ - HOLIDAY INTERNSHIPS Work as an apprentice in Lodz programme objectives: enabling students to undergo a paid internship in Lodz companies during holidays, promotion of holiday internships among employers as a great way to gain future employees. Benefits for employers: widespread promotion campaign of the funders of internships and the published advertisements, promotion package connected to the number of published internship advertisements, recruitment support from the organiser through the possibility to carry out preliminary selection of applications. The employers are given a list of the best candidates and decide on the final choice of persons that meet their expectations. Over 310 Lodz companies that published over 1,400 paid holiday internship advertisements have taken part in 7 editions of the project. In total, over 19,600 applications were submitted! COOPERATION RULES The employer undertakes to organise at least 1 holiday internship lasting for at least 1 month. The employer signs a civil-law contract with the selected intern that ensures hourly pay in the amount of min. PLN 13.00 gross.

FUNDERS 2017/2018

YOUTH IN LODZ SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME It is a scholarship programme unique at a national scale that includes: funding scholarships by employers for degree programmes the graduates of which are the most needed by Lodz employers, financial support for dormitories, financial support for foreign language courses or other courses improving the qualifications of students Participation in the scholarship programme enables the employer to reach the most active students of the chosen degree programmes. Detailed rules and conditions of participation in the programme are specified by employers together with the organiser. The employer may oblige the scholarship holder e.g. to undergo an internship or an apprenticeship in the funder's company, or to act as the funder's company's ambassador at the university. So far, 10 editions of the scholarship programme have taken place: 225 students were granted scholarships, 38 students recovered the costs of accommodation in dormitories, 220 people took part in English, German, Italian, Spanish, or Japanese language courses, as well as in programming courses. COOPERATION RULES Funding a scholarship for at least one student in the amount of min. PLN 700 gross a month for the period of 9 months. Reimbursement of dormitory accommodation costs for at least one student in the amount of min. PLN 260-450 gross a month for the period of 9 months. Covering costs of a language teacher/ coach of a selected course for a group of 10-15 people in the amount of about PLN 50,007,000 for the period of at least one semester.

TRAININGS ARE CONDUCTED BY

FREE TRAININGS - YOUR CAREER IN YOUR OWN HANDS Trainings for students are organised in cooperation with training companies and Lodz employers - the partners of the Youth in Lodz programme. Offering free trainings give the employers a chance to recruit future employees with qualifications that are more than knowledge. So far, more that 400 trainings have been organised, in which nearly 6,000 people have taken part. COOPERATION RULES Each of the partners is obliged to conduct 3-5 trainings a year. The partner provides a coach that will conduct the training and the content-wise preparation of training materials. The organiser of the Youth in Lodz programme is responsible for enrolment of participants, providing a training room, administrative and technical support for the training and copying training materials.

VISITS IN COMPANIES ARE ORGANISED BY

VISITS IN COMPANIES - MEET LODZ EMPLOYERS Meet Lodz Employers is a series of visits of Lodz students in the companies that are partners of the Youth in Lodz programme. During the visit, there is a trip around the company and a presentation of the employment possibilities, the recruitment process, etc. Nearly 1,700 students have already benefited from the initiative. COOPERATION RULES The employer is obliged to appoint the date of the visit and provide persons that will take care of the students in the company. The Youth in Lodz programme provides full organisational support of the visit: promotion of the event among students, enrolment of the number of students specified by the employer, free transportation for a maximum of 15 people, and materials for the participants.

YOUTH IN LODZ - I HAVE AN IDEA HOW TO START THE BUSINESS Youth in Lodz - I Have an Idea How to Start the Business is the best business idea competition. The initiative is aimed at beginning start-ups that need inspiration and support from experienced business partners. So far, 9 editions of the competition have taken place: 1250 business ideas were submitted, 300 professional business plans were developed, 200 new companies were established. COOPERATION RULES Funding financial and non-financial prizes (e.g. a notebook, a multifunctional device, a tablet, etc.) or services for companies (e.g. office space, free accounting, legal, or marketing services, consultancy, trainings, etc.) for winners. The prize funder becomes a member of the Competition Chapter and gains the right to assess the submitted business ideas. The Youth in Lodz programme provides promotion of the Partners in competition information materials.

DISCOUNT CARD The Youth in Lodz discount card entitles students of Lodz higher education institutions and students of high school graduation classes as part of the City of Talents to discounts up to 50% in cinemas, theatres, and other culture institutions, sports and leisure centres, language schools, clubs, pubs, and restaurants that are partners of the project. COOPERATION RULES The cooperation is based on non-financial benefits. The partner undertakes to give an at least 20% discount for the offered products and services to students mentioned above. The companies that are partners of the discount card project, in return for the offered discounts and promotions, get permanent, and additionally cyclical, promotion of the company, e.g. among students of Lodz higher education institutions, in the following form: permanent promotion of the discount card partner's profile at www.mlodziwlodzi.pl/kartarabatowa/ cyclical promotion on the Internet at: www.mlodziwlodzi.pl, the Youth in Lodz profile on Facebook, Instagram, the Youth in Lodz newsletter website, in the PROMOTED PARTNERS box at www.mlodziwlodzi.pl/kartarabatowa/ promotion in printed promotion and information materials regarding the initiative: posters, leaflets, newspaper advertisements (the materials are placed on more than 20 boards in Lodz higher education institutions, citylights located in the area of dormitories and campuses). distribution of leaflets regarding the discount card with the partners' logos during general academic events, such as: Academic Job Fair, University Job Fair, Open Days in higher education institutions, events under the auspices of the Youth in Lodz Programme, etc.

DISCOUNTS ARE OFFERED BY

PROGRAMME PROMOTION OFFER Participation of employers in the Youth in Lodz programme complements perfectly the activities in the area of personal marketing. As a result of a wide range of cooperation possibilities, every company can become involved in activities tailored to meet its needs. The programme offers the following communication channels with students and graduates: internet website www.mlodziwlodzi.pl, which is visited by over 20 thousand unique Internet users on average a month, Facebook profile (more that 18 thousand followers), newsletter for more than 9.5 thousand subscribers, advertisement boards of the Youth in Lodz programme located in Lodz higher education institutions citylights - a display of 120x177cm posters for two weeks depending on the availability of the media, display of B1 size posters in selected City of Lodz Office buildings, higher education institutions, technical schools and city companies depending on the availability of the media.

PACKAGE OF BENEFITS FOR PARTNERS The company's profile at www.mlodziwlodzi.pl. Possibility to use the newsletter and news on the website. Free display of posters on advertisement boards of the Youth in Lodz programme located in higher education institutions. Free display of posters in selected City of Lodz Office buildings, higher education institutions, technical schools, and city companies. Free citylight display of posters, depending on the availability of the media. The company's logo in information and promotion materials of the programme and individual initiatives. Distribution of information and promotion materials of the company prepared as part of the project in cooperation with partners of the City of Lodz Office. Providing information on involvement of the company during press conferences organised by the City of Lodz Office and in interviews regarding the programme. Leaflets and other information materials prepared by the company can be added to press materials. Possibility to involve the company in events organised as part of promotion activities of the Youth in Lodz programme, such as concerts, sports events, dance events, etc. Additional promotion of the company involved in individual initiatives using advertising media used in promotion campaigns, such as leaflets, posters, outdoor media, and Internet.

RULES OF PUBLICATION OF ADVERTISEMENTS PROVIDED BY PARTNERS The partner of the Youth in Lodz programme taking part in the programme initiatives requiring financial participation of the company (scholarship programme, Work as an apprentice in Lodz paid holiday internship programme, I Have an Idea How to Start the Business competition) - advertisements are published and promoted at www.mlodziwlodzi.pl and in the weekly newsletter, as well as on the Facebook profile. The partner of the Youth in Lodz programme taking part in the programme initiatives not requiring financial participation of the company (the portal of apprenticeships and internships www.praktyki.lodz.pl, Your Career in your own Hands trainings, Meet Lodz Employers company visits) - advertisements are published in the News and News in the labour market sections, but they are not promoted at www.mlodziwlodzi.pl; however, they are present in the weekly newsletter and, alternatively, on the Facebook funpage. The partner of the Youth in Lodz programme that, despite intentions specified in the cooperation declaration, does not take part in any of the programme initiatives - advertisements are published only in the event of positive decision of the organiser in the News and News in the labour market sections, but they are not promoted at www.mlodziwlodzi.pl, in the newsletter or on Facebook.

HOW TO BECAME A YOUTH IN LODZ PROGRAMME PARTNER In order to take part in the Youth in Lodz programme, it is necessary to: Fill in the cooperation declaration available at www.mlodziwlodzi.pl in the ABOUT THE PROGRAMME tab.
