1 st Annual Knowledge Management Conference BACKGROUND The Constitution of Kenya calls for all state organs to ensure reasonable access to their services in all parts of the Country and having regard to the nature of the service. The Government is hence committed to improved service delivery and innovation. To this end, Knowledge Management has been identified as a driver. Consequently it was introduced as a performance contract requirement with public organizations. Globally most governments have made significant investment in knowledge management to deliver Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Kenya as a country is committed to building a resilient infrastructure to foster innovation by implementing knowledge management. Kenya School of Government acknowledges the role of knowledge management in building a competent, well skilled and motivated workforce in the public service. Consequently, in line with its vision of excellence in public service capacity development, the School recognizes the need for best practices in Knowledge Management. It is in line with this background that the School, in conjunction with Phowad Solution Limited and other key stakeholders, is co-convening the 2017 Annual Conference on Knowledge Management. The Conference theme is: Get it Right and Ensure Productivity with a focus on Knowledge Management best practices. The two days conference will be structured around leadership and governance, strategy, tools, techniques, standards, legislation, policy and compliance in Knowledge Management in Kenya. This will result in best practices around knowledge management implementation that has proven to be transformational pillar in improved service delivery and innovation as enshrined in The Kenya Constitution (2010). 1.
This will help accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and results in the achievement of some of the labor and manpower development projects as outlined for implementation in the Vision 2030 flagship agenda. This is the first Annual conference under the devolved governance structure that will bring together public sector, private sector, donors, partners and counties, institutions of higher learning, knowledge sharing platform developers, international experts and innovators. The Conference will be held on 7th and 8th December 2017 at Enashipai Resort and Spa, Naivasha.
