A SURVEY OF PATIENTS AWARENESS ABOUT THE PERI-OPERATIVE ROLE OF ANAESTHETISTS

Transcription:

Coping with the ever-growing patient volume Khanewal Construction on the new OPD Complex is progressing according to schedule and it is expected to be ready by the end of this year. With a significant increase and adequate space being made available for the convenience of the patients, there will be smooth flow and movement of those visiting the hospital for treatment. It will provide new consultation rooms, biometry, laboratory, dispensary, laser treatment room, refraction room, an additional Operation Theatre and a minor Operation Theatre. We are grateful to our generous donor in UAE who is funding this entire venture at an estimated cost of Rs. 14.42 million. Korangi In order to provide comfort to the patients whose numbers continue to swell with each passing day, a new block of eight toilets has been constructed so that patients do not have to wait for an extended period of time. Construction work on the first floor in the residential block was initiated to provide accommodation for the trainees undergoing the Refractionist and OT Technician courses which have begun this year following approval by the Sindh Medical Faculty. This was felt necessary due to the addition of a second batch of 20 candidates that have also been enrolled and on completion will enable them to provide quality eye care at the Community Eye Care Centers and the Hospitals. Work on this project is expected to be completed by end April 2012 at a cost of Rs. 1.56 million. A new sewerage system has also being laid in order to prevent difficulties that were faced in the last monsoon season due to system limitations of the previous line. Construction of the LRBT Odigram Hospital North Karachi As planned, the new Hospital after completion of remodeling process was inaugurated and began operations in full swing at the beginning of the New Year. For a long time this was felt necessary as patients had to travel a long distance from the suburbs of Karachi i.e. Surjani, Kati Pahari, Gulberg, New Karachi etc. to receive treatment at the Korangi Hospital. With this facility being made available close to their localities, it will help bring comfort and ease to the poor patients who were having to sacrifice a days wage. In the first quarter, 10,593 patients were examined at the OPD and 702 surgeries were performed. New Hospitals Odigram Construction of a new purpose built 40 bed Hospital began on 2nd April in order to provide our patients a proper environment which is presently lacking due to paucity of space in the present set up at Barikot, where we are temporarily housed in a portion of the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital. According to plans now, we expect completion of this project by the end of July 2013. We are grateful to Pakistan Italian Debt for Swap Agreement( PIDSA) for their unflinching support and funding which has made this venture possible. Further funding to meet the shortfall has been provided by Mr. Usman Paracha and the Infaq Foundation. LRBT North Karachi Hospital 02 TREATING 36% OF ALL EYE PATIENTS IN PAKISTAN
