Summer 2018 Schedule of Classes Summer Sessions Enrollment Period Begins February 12. Students are required to meet with their advisor prior to registering. The advisor must remove the advising hold in order for the student to register for classes. www.upb.pitt.edu

If you are currently a student at another university you may take a summer class through the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford as a visiting student. Contact Admissions at 1-800- 872-1787 or admissions@upb.pitt.edu. BILLING Students are charged a per credit tuition rate over the summer. In addition to tuition, students are charged a Computer Networking Fee of $100 if registered in less than 12 credits & $175 if over 12 credits. Other course specific fees may apply. This includes Internships. The University of Pittsburgh does not mail paper bills. Once you have registered for classes, charges are created for the term. An e-mail notification is sent to your Pitt e-mail account directing you to view your account and due date in PittPAY. Go to my.pitt.edu and log on using the username and password assigned to you by the University. Click on PittPAY (along right side of page). You will land on the Account Summary tab. Here you will be able to see any balance due, and for which term(s), and the payment due date. Your payment will be due in full by the posted due date unless you are enrolled in a payment plan (see Payment Plan tab in PittPAY). Credit card and echeck payments are accepted online in PittPAY. Students will learn principles of stream ecology and water quality while applying their knowledge and skills in the field on a research study. A hands-on course, students will have an opportunity to experience a field-research course in the wilderness of the Allegheny National Forest, trekking off trail to sample streams, aquatic insect sampling and identification. Prerequisites: BIOL 0101 and 0102, completion of competency courses BIOL 1449 Special Topics in Biology Laboratory: Field Natural History (1): Field Natural History introduces students to the biology, evolution and diversity of life in various ecosystems using fieldwork. Field-based classes introduce students to some of the methods of observation, identification, and study of flora and fauna in local habitats of North-central Pennsylvania. Course will involve hikes and other outdoor activities. Citizen science will be utilized during the course. BIOL 1440 Cancer Biology (3): Discovering a cure for cancer has been one of the most difficult challenges for modern biomedical science. The scientific process and a discussion of experimental techniques used in modern cancer research will be emphasized. ENVSTD 1450 Special Topics Natural Resources and Public Land Management (3): Natural Resource and Public Lands Management: History, Politics and Practice is intended to introduce you to the history, political processes, public institutions, and natural resource laws and practices informing and shaping their management.
