STREAMGRAM Action Needed to Help Streams St. Louis Stream Team Conference Saturday October 27, 2007 Rickman Auditorium on the Fox C6 Middle School Campus Arnold, MO The Stream Team Association for the Meramec watershed, Northern Ozark Rivers Partnership (NORP), Stream Teams from various counties in the region, and the Stream Team Program are hosting the first Stream Team Conference for the St. Louis region on October 27, 2007 at the Rickman Auditorium in Arnold, Mo. The day starts at 8:00 a.m. with opening remarks from the Department of Conservation Director John Hoskins, Department of Natural Resources Director of Water Pollution Control Program Ed Galbraith, and the Conservation Federation of Missouri Executive Director Dave Murphy. The remainder of the day will offer numerous workshops, a Photo Contest, a Stream Team Display Contest, exhibits, and networking opportunities. Kids will have their own opportunities as events are planned for Stream Team youth. No meals or lodging are provided. The city of Arnold is providing the use of the Rickman Auditorium for the conference center and the use of the Fox School District classrooms for workshops. The classrooms are on the same campus as the auditorium. In return they ask that conference attendees eat at local restaurants and stay in local lodging to promote tourism of their fair city on the banks of the Meramec River. The conference will conclude with a free concert sponsored by the city of Arnold featuring a bluegrass band, The Saw Mill Band, as a warm up for the main feature Brewer & Shipley. Brewer & Shipley are a folk rock duo comprised of singer-songwriters Mike Brewer and Tom Shipley. They are known for their intricate guitar work, stunning harmonies, and socially-conscious lyrics which reflected the concerns of their generation. Their biggest hit was the song One Toke Over the Line, from the album Tarkio (1970). They also had two other singles which made the Billboard charts: Tarkio Road (1970) and Shake Off the Demon (1971). You may remember their unforgettable performance at the 1995 Rivers and Stream Conference. The public will join Stream Teams at the concert but will have to pay.
