Development of Entrepreneurship at Technical University of Moldova presented by chief of Department Economy and Industrial Management PhD Rafael Ciloci

. - Technical University of Moldova ( TUM) is the only technical education institution in the R. of Moldova - At TUM the studies are organized within 9 faculties, that include different engineering area, for about 10.000 students. - At two faculties: Faculty of Computers, Informatics and Microelectronics (FCIM) and Faculty of Engineering and Management in Electronics and Telecommunications (FEMET) are organized training for ICT sector. - There are about: 12 specialities, including two managerial: a) Engineering and Management in Telecommunications b) Information Management - 1500 students at FCIM and about 500 students at FEMET

How to foster innovation and entrepreneurship at universities? - Education and training - New institutions - Development of innovation ecosystems

Education and training Entrepreneurial knowledge ( Management, Marketing, Finance, Economics etc.) Entrepreneurial Vision Entrepreneurial Culture

New approach in Education ( including entrepreneurial): - Creativity - Team work - Lifelong learning - Selection & synthesis opposite to analysis ( Growing the flow of information)

At Technical University of Moldova is organized an optional course,, Entrepreneurship. Starting a business for all interested students, that include: - The fundamentals of Entrepreneurship - Business ideas - Legal issues of initiating a business - Marketing - Planning a business - Human resources - The Enterprise and Finance - The fundamentals of Accounting

At the end, students have to draw up Business Plan, being consulted by professors and present to Commission. - Students are informed about opportunities and trained to get seed fund and grants; - Beneficiaries of course have opportunity to be consulted by TUM professors when they begin real business (during 3 years after the course was taught); - Beneficiaries are about 50 students each year; - About half of them present Business plan.

New Institutions - Centre of Entrepreneurial Assistance - Centre of Excellence and Acceleration in Design & Technologies,, ZIPhouse - Centre of Excellence Tekwill, IT hub

ZIPhouse a public-private partnership between Ministry of Education, Technical University of Moldova, Textile Industry Employers Association of Moldova with support of USAID was created in 2015. This Innovation Centre is specialized in design & technology in Textile Industry and provide: - Education & Training - Acceleration & supporting of Start ups - Co-working & creative circle - Assistance in Business Development

Tekwill is 4000 m2 hub that was launched on 15 March 2017 by support of Ministry of Information Technology and Communications, National Association of ICT, Technical University of Moldova, USAID, SIDA, IBM, Microsoft etc. as a public-private partnership. This Centre will develop the culture of entrepreneurship and foster the growth of start ups in ICT sector by providing: 1. High standard education and training facilities; 2. Connections for businesses, investors, students and professors; 3. Research and development opportunities.

Development of Innovation Ecosystem Development of ICT sector could be enhanced by forming innovation ecosystems: - Centres of Excellence - Incubators - Accelerators - Clusters To be competitive on the Global Market it is important to create an ICT cluster by establishing partnership between universities, enterprises (including within), research institutions, Government etc. The ICT Association has to fulfil an important role by connecting actors and to get over cultural barriers. The Technical University of Moldova strongly support all the initiatives for development of Innovation Ecosystem.
