Scholarship Competition For Juniors University Of Rochester Numerous colleges sponsor scholarship and/or recognition programs for students in their junior year of high school. Juniors are encouraged to become familiar with the college itself and determine if it is a college where they might possibly file an admissions application next year. Recipients of the following awards are not guaranteed scholarship money, but if accepted to the college, are eligible to apply for scholarship grants associated with the award. The scholarship amounts range from $10,000 to $20,000 per year for 4-years. The college application fee is waived for award winners. Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award This award recognizes a high school junior who demonstrates exceptional high achievement & rigor in the sciences. Students are considered based upon both academic excellence in science and on the rigor of courses taken. Superior achievement on the PSAT Math and/or SAT Math is also considered. Frederick Douglass And Susan B. Anthony Award In Humanities And Social Sciences A junior selected to receive this award must demonstrate a commitment to understanding & addressing difficult social issues; leadership & dedication to community action; and academic success & rigorous course taken in the humanities and social sciences. George Eastman Young Leaders Award And Scholarship This award recognizes a junior who has achieved high grades in challenging courses and demonstrates strong leadership at school & in their community and extensive involvement in extracurricular activities. Xerox Award For Innovation And Information Technology This award recognizes one junior based upon the following criteria: Demonstrates a strong interest in innovation and/or information technology and are proven to be high achievers in this area. Exposure to new technologies outside of school, such as pursuing serious work opportunities in local laboratories or industry Leading other students to new approaches to old problems: business plans for fundraising; innovative community service; after-school activities; and best use of internal communication tools such as chat, BBS, and blogging. To apply for any of the awards listed on this page, students should complete the correct application on the following pages and return the form to the Counseling and Guidance Office by MARCH 15 th.
