Due November 20 th, 2012 by 5:00 PM The Department of Hospitality and Tourism (HTMT) is pleased to offer its majors and minors and concentrations several diverse and rewarding educational financial assistance opportunities. Students are strongly encouraged to seek out and apply for those prospects that best match their personal circumstances, attributes, academic achievements and/or professional aspirations. *All scholarships and awards are conditional, pending sponsor funding. 1. Charleston Bed & Breakfast Association Education Award - $1000. The Charleston SC Bed and Breakfast Association (CBBA) members provide the perfect setting to experience the enchantment of Charleston; one of America s oldest and most finely preserved historic cities, where guests can wander among gracious antebellum homes and beautiful mansions. The CBBA is pleased to support HTMT students pursuing hospitality employment opportunities in any of its member bed and breakfast inns. The award is based on those that best represent a desire to seek career in inn or bed-and-breakfast management. 2. Charleston Restaurant Association Education Award- $7,500 (5 @ $1,500). The Greater Charleston restaurant Association (GCRA) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit trade organization serving the Charleston Area restaurant industry. It serves as the voice of the local restaurant industry on government and public relations issues. GCRA hosts two major festivals each year: The Taste of Charleston and the Lowcountry Oyster Festival. The scholarship is awarded based upon foodservice career interests, financial need and other criteria. 3. Kiawah Island Golf Resort Education Award- $1,500. Patrick was widely known in Charleston s food and beverage industry for over 20 years. Academic excellence, although important, is not the chief criteria for this scholarship. Instead, the scholarship is awarded to the student that best represents Patrick Ringwald s spirit and attitude. 5. Wild Dunes Resort Hospitality Management Scholarship- $3,000.
