ROLLING THUNDER NJ CHAPTER 2 Newsletter (July 2017) PRESIDENT S MESSAGE I hope everyone is doing good in this slight heat wave we are having. It s been a few weeks since our BBQ. We didn t set the world on fire, but we did ok and I want to thank all those who came out and helped. It s that time of year and I'm working on our Freedom Ride, and before you know it, we will be doing our Freedom Ride. Patches and pins are ordered, shirts are ordered, and now we pray for good weather. As you know, we have a couple runs set up, one to Virginia and one to New Hampshire. Both are overnighters and I hope we have a good showing for both. Brenda will have all information at our meeting. Will see you all Wednesday. Thanks, Lou
MONTHLY COMMITTEE HIGHLIGHT Flag Committee The Flag Committee will act as advocates for the proper and respectful display of the American and POW/MIA flag in all principal municipal buildings, veterans organizations, and schools in the State of new Jersey. The Flag Committee shall consist of a Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, and Members. The placement or replacement of the POW/MIA flags at New Jersey schools will be done along with the New Jersey Chapter 2 Education Committee. Any Member of Rolling Thunder, Inc. N.J. Chapter 2 can/will suggest the removal or replacement of any unsightly American or POW/MIA flag at schools, local or state government buildings/facilities or veterans organization. When possible, the Committee Chairperson will contact the President and seek Chapter Members who may with to participate in the raising ceremony of those flags. Event Committee When the Chapter decides to sponsor and conduct an event or function, an Event Committee shall be organized consisting of a Committee Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, and Members to ensure the success of the event or function. Examples are: Candlelight Vigil, Freedom Ride, Poker Run, etc. If needed, a Sub Committee can be generated to assist with the event or function if necessary. If a Committee has not been formed by the next General Monthly Meeting following the General Monthly Meeting voted by the Membership to sponsor the event or function, the event or function will be cancelled by the President due to lack of participation. The Committee Chairperson is responsible to keep accurate records of all expenditures in support of an event or function and is required to fill out a Chapter Reimbursement Form with the Chapter Treasurer. The Chairperson will conduct progress meetings with the Committee Members and provide an updated report to the President to include any and all problems that may jeopardize the success of the event or function. The Chairperson shall provide a list of names, mailing address, and donations to the Sunshine Committee within two weeks after the event or function so that a Thank You card may be sent. The Event Chairperson, Vice President, and Treasurer will meet and go over the event receipts within two weeks after the event and report findings to the President and Membership. Any an all money needed to run the event or function shall come out of the proceeds of that event. Sales from the Product Table, T-Shirts, Patches, Pins, etc., are not to be counted in any totals of the Chapter sponsored event. No monies shall be designated prior to an event, without it first being brought to the Board of Directors and then voted on by the Chapter Membership.

A Veteran whether on active duty, discharged, retired, or reserveis someone who, at one point of their life, wrote a blank check made payable to The United States of America for an amount up to and including his or her life. That is Honor. And there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact. Mission Statement Rolling Thunder, Inc. s major function is to publicize the POW/MIA issue. To educate the public of the fact that many American prisoners of war were left behind after all past wars. To help correct the past and to protect the future veterans from being left behind should they become Prisoners Of War/Missing In Action. We are committed to helping American veterans from all wars. Rolling Thunder is a non-profit organization and everyone donates his or her time because they believe in the POW/MIA issue.
Event (in Red) is Mandatory. All Events are credited towards Rolling Thunder s minimum requirements to remain a member in good standing.
