Yearly engineering report of INDIA BRANCH: F.Y. 2016-2017 The IMechE India Branch is very much active for enriching knowledge of engineering fraternity across India. The India branch is structured into four zone panels (North, East, and South & West), Railway & Automotive divisions and various student s chapters. With the recent passing of the baton, IMechE India branch was constituted with following office bearers, in March 2016: Messrs. Ravi Kochak (Chair), Mahesh Shinde (Secretary), Jivan Dosajh (Treasurer), John Roebuck & Amanbir Singh (Co-chairs: Automotive panel), Amit Ramteke (Secretary: Railway division), Anshul Singla (YMR), Ankit Sharma (Webmaster), Vishal Goyal (Member), etc. However, with changes over a period of time and as institutionalized in recent AGM dated 18th Feb 2017, the following office bearers are holding the office, currently: Messrs. Ravi Kochak (Chair), Mahesh Shinde (Secretary), Avadhesh Bahadur (Treasurer), Ms. Manasi Mone & Amanbir Singh (Co-secretary, Automotive panel), Amit Ramteke (Secretary, Railway division), Rohan Thapar (YMR-India), Ankit Sharma (Webmaster), etc. Under this leadership, all zonal panels and divisions have been volunteering for progress and increasing penetration of IMechE in India. This is being achieved by conducting multiple events, seminars and activities. Some of these activities are handled directly by zonal panel, specific division or student chapter in that zone and/or co-hosted with other agencies; under the guidance and supervision of IMechE India Branch. Some of the events and activities are given below, for which the IMechE India branch spends the amount and/or settle the travel claims of its members (for invitees only) for attending (Refer Annexure I for expenditure details, audited internally). These programs include India branch level meetings, Annual General meeting, prestigious events, etc. All the members are volunteers of IMechE and work for growth and development of engineering fraternity and society in general, on charitable & non-profit basis. Events and activities: 1. India Branch level meetings For strategy and plan of action, the executive members deliberate the issues, provide guidance and support to its members, zonal office bearers and student s chapters 2. Zonal panel and divisional (Railway & Automotive) meetings. Automotive chapter is very much active in West zone and has completed various events in Pune, Nasik and Mumbai, so far. Seminars at zonal levels, Memorial lectures, Training for interviewers by HQ Trainer at North & West zone. 15. Publication of events, reporting and media coverage efforts are taken by member volunteers to make people aware of IMechE and its benefits With the guidance and supervision of Branch Managing board, Executive committees of panels; volunteers across India organized multi faceted events such as seminars, lectures, IMechE kiosks and formation of Student Chapters. The start of the year 2017 started with a bang for IMechE India Branch with high quality, high attendance events bridging the gap between Industry and academia on a larger scale across zones, divisions and student chapters. The two major events are already completed by West zone/automotive division at Pune (17th -18th Feb 2017), Viz., 1. National level conference on connected vehicles and Autonomous driving ( Connectonomy ), which had presentations on the theme by various automotive experts. This was substantiated by panel discussions participated by corporate leaders from automotive industries. 2. Back-to-back Annual General Meeting of India Branch followed this. The officials across India attended this meeting. In addition, Representatives from HQ, SAR Chair & representative from Sri Lanka, UK attended this India Branch AGM. The guidance and support provided by not only Branch Managing board but by other sub-committees and volunteers across India, resulted in spectrum of events in the form of lectures, seminars, competitions and AGM. We have had the elections for branch and zona panels and new volunteers emerged from within (Refer Annexure II for AGM MoM) We have many events planned with the start of New Year, which will include an automotive seminar & AGM in Pune, memorial lectures, Industrial visits and lot more to come...
