Upcoming Events LCC Community, Thanks for being part of our Maverick Family, we have a ton of school events happening this week as we celebrate Homecoming at LCC. Please get involved and Be A Maverick! No school on Friday--- but don t forget about the ASB Carnival at 4pm and football game at 7pm. Thu, 9/21 Thu, 9/21 Athletic weekly schedule: Athletics ASB Club Rush, Meadow after evacuation and lockdown drill at 11:45 ASB Blood Drive (see Community section for details) Parking Update: Starting September 26, the LCC upper student parking lot will undergo construction adding solar panels. The project is estimated to be complete by winter break. Due to the numerous parking spots closed for project construction, administration has temporarily suspended issuing new parking permits while we assess capacity. There is a waiting list in the main office if you would like to add your name. Once the solar panel project is complete, LCC will be a net zero school site fully powered by solar. We would like to thank Prop AA and the SDUHSD Board of Trustees for this opportunity to enhance our facilities and efforts towards environmental sustainability. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 2:45-3:45 in the 500 Quad. Look for the bright yellow sign posted on an open door. Students just need to sign in when they arrive. Mav Science Hour: Mav Science Hour provides support for chemistry and biology students Wednesdays from 2:45-3:45 in the 600s. Look for the sign posted on the open doors. Long Island University: Friday, September 29 at 11am. * Please stop by the Counseling office to sign up and pick up a permission slip.* SAVE THE DATE: Senior Parent Night - College Applications - Thursday, October 5, Theater, 6:00pm This presentation will focus specifically on the four year college application process and will include: Reviewing important application due dates for CSU/UC Reviewing important application factors for out-of state and private schools Accessing online applications Reviewing general scholarship information Accessing and using NAVIANCE to its full potential, and Reviewing tips and strategies to support seniors during this exciting year Financial Aid Night - Completing the FAFSA - Tuesday, October 10, Theater 6:00pm This presentation will focus specifically on the FAFSA (Free Application for Student Aid) process and will include: Reviewing the application process, for both 2 and 4 year colleges/universities Reviewing application due dates and timelines Accessing the FAFSA online, along with tips and strategies for completing it Reviewing additional resources and workshop opportunities ARTS A new tradition is underway: Theater Thursdays is an open invitation for all students to picnic on the lawn in front of the Theater, every Thursday during lunch. Grab a friend & your lunch, then head over to the Theater. Music, picnic blankets, & pop-up tents are provided. ATHLETICS WINTER SPORT CLEARANCE: Interested in participating winter sports this year? LCC offers Girls and Boys Basketball, Girls and Boys Soccer, Girls and Boys Wrestling, and Girls Water Polo in the winter season. You must be cleared through the Athletic Office in order to participate. The deadline for clearance is November 1.
