The Conference is 7-4-1 against other conferences with two of the losses coming against #13 STANFORD in the Nor- Cal Classic and two coming against the SEC. The Pac-12 is 5-2-1 against the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and 2-0 against the Mountain Rim Conference. UCLA and OREGON STATE kicked off head-to-head Pac-12 action Monday night as the Bruins beat the Beavers 196.000-195.450. This weekend will feature more nonconference action as several Pac-12 squads hit the road. KRISTEN SMYTH... 14th season...ncaa Appearances: 11 UTAH VOTED PRESEASON FAVORITE IN PAC-12 COACHES POLL SAN FRANCISCO In a poll taken by the Conference s eight women s gymnastics coaches, UTAH was voted the preseason favorite to win the 2015 Pac-12 regular season, the Conference announced. The Utes received 46 points with five first-place votes and were also voted sixth in the national preseason coaches poll. UCLA tallied 43 points, receiving the remaining three first-place votes, and was tabbed second. Additionally, the Bruins came in fifth in the national preseason coaches poll. Utah takes over the top spot in the preseason Pac-12 coaches poll from UCLA. The Bruins had dominated the top spot for the last three years. This season, Utah will be looking to repeat as Pac-12 champions after winning the title for the first time in 2014. STANFORD sits in third place with 39 points in the poll, followed by OREGON STATE and CALIFORNIA tied at fourth with 28 points each. Rounding out the poll were ARIZONA, WASHINGTON, and ARIZONA STATE with 17, 13, and 10 points respectively. Seven of eight Pac-12 teams are ranked in the national top 25 preseason poll. Stanford joins UCLA and Utah in the top 10 with a 10th-place ranking, followed closely by 11th-ranked Oregon State. California, Arizona and Washington are ranked 14th, 21st, and 24th respectively. WOMEN S GYMNASTICS ON PAC-12 NETWORKS Pac-12 gymnastics teams will see an unprecedented amount of television coverage this season. In the third year of Pac-12 Networks, 21 women s gymnastics meets will be televised on a national and regional basis. The Pac-12 Networks consists of one national and six regional networks devoted solely to the Pac-12. In addition to the hundreds of live televised Pac-12 sporting events, Pac-12 Networks subscribers will have access to Pac-12 Now, the TV Everywhere platform, which provides access to all Pac-12 Networks programming on any device through their broadband service. The Golden Bears are also ranked at #10 in the most recent national rankings, based on average team score. CALIFORNIA hopes to continue their success Friday at San Jose State. UTAH in the top 5 nationally in every event: The Utes are ranked in the top 5 in the country in team average (#4), vault (#5), bars (#4), beam (#3) and floor (#3).UTAH s home opener is this Friday as they host Boise State, Southern Utah, and UC-Davis. 5 Pac-12 gymnastics teams ranked: Five Pac-12 gymnastics teams are ranked in the most recent national top 25: #4 UTAH, #10 CALIFORNIA, #13 STANFORD, #18 ARIZONA, and #20 ARIZONA STATE. The rankings are based on average team score. The three Pac-12 teams that are not ranked had not yet competed by the time the rankings came out on Mon., Jan. 12. Pac-12 gymnastics on tour: Several Pac-12 gymnastics teams will hit the road this weekend to play teams all over the country. On Friday, WASHINGTON travels to Raleigh, N.C. to take on North Carolina State, #20 ARIZONA STATE travels to Lexington, Ky. to take on Kentucky, and #10 CALIFORNIA heads south to San Jose, Calif. to take on Sam Jose State. On Sunday, #13 STANFORD will go to Philadelphia to take on Penn and Bridgeport while OREGON STATE heads to Ames, Iowa to compete against Iowa State and Southeast Missouri State. UTAH s Tory Wilson was named the Gymnast of the Week, ARIZONA s Jessie Sisler was voted Specialist of the Week, and STANFORD s Elizabeth Price was selected as the Freshman/Newcomer of the Week. The Pac-12 Gymnast of the Year in 2014, Tory Wilson is off to a strong start in her senior season. In Utah s season-opening meet with BYU, Wilson won the all-around (39.450), vault (9.925) and floor (9.900) to lead the Utes to their best season-opening score in 10 years and a 196.900-193.350 win. Wilson also scored 9.800 as Utah s leadoff on beam and scored a 9.825 on the bars. Arizona junior Jessie Sisler earned Specialist of the Week honors for her work on the beam in the Wildcats season-opening loss at No. 4 Alabama. Sisler won first place on the beam with a score of 9.950, a personal-best score on the event. Stanford freshman Elizabeth Price earned Freshman/Newcomer of the week honors for her performance in the NorCal Classic at San Jose State on Jan. 4. A 2012 U.S. Olympic Team alternate, Price claimed individual victories in both of her events, scoring 9.925 on bars and 9.850 on vault. Her two meet-best routines helped Stanford claim its first victory of the season and Price s first as a collegiate gymnast. Price has claimed victories in all three of the events she s competed in so far this season. A gymnast of the week has been selected every week of the season since 2001.
