Our mission is to serve our communities and families through ongoing organized and deliberate community service events and opportunities. Supporting the community is important to Zeta Phi Bet Sorority, Incorporated and giving back to the community is an objective of the. Zeta Phi Beta has four principles. Of our Sorority s four principles, the Words of Wisdom Book Grant is named in the spirit of the Scholarship principle. With this book grant, our goal is to present the selected awardee with a financial gift to be used towards her college book purchases. The award recipient will be chosen based on her scholastic achievement and community involvement. The is intended for women whose desire is to complete secondary education. This grant provides an opportunity for the recognition of the recipient s achievements and assistance with her educational goals. This scholarship will be given in the amount of $250.00. Words of Wisdom Grant Form Summary: For one (1) female student who is pursuing a degree at Mount San Jacinto College as a parttime or full-time student. Award: $250.00 grant, one time only Eligibility: Applicant must be (1) a female; (2) completed one (1) semester in pursuit of her associates degree; (3) show proof of being an active member within her community as identified under community service; (4) obtain a letter of recommendation; (5) submit a fully developed, typed essay on the topic provided; (6) must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, which is verified by official academic transcript. Selectee must be present at the Beta Alpha Theta Finer Womanhood Tea in March 2018. Community Service: Active community service for the purpose of this scholarship means (1) a cumulative total of 52 hours of community service in the 2017 calendar year; or (2) position held with a community based organization (CBO) that is not the applicant s occupation. For example, an outreach coordinator at a CBO cannot use this position to satisfy community service requirements. Applicants must submit the completed original Community Service Hours Chart provided with the application. Recommendations: Applicants shall provide one letter of recommendation from one of the categories identified in this section. Categories: (1) education teacher, professor, instructor or counselor; (2) professional employer, supervisor, task lead or colleague; and (3) personal clergy, family, friend, or a person who does not qualify in the previous two categories. I further understand that attendance to the 2018 Finer Womanhood Tea is required.
