Appendix : RBC Play Hockey TM Grants Application Guidelines RBC Play Hockey Grants program ( Program ) is intended to assist community-based sport, recreation and cultural organizations reach people of all backgrounds, encouraging them to play the great sport of hockey, and nurturing passion for the sport. Grants are intended to focus on getting people started playing hockey, developing hockey skills and helping players go further in the game. Program grants ( Grants ) will be awarded twice in each Program Year ( as defined below ). Please read these guidelines carefully before submitting a funding application. By submitting an application under this Program the applicant confirms his/her unconditional acceptance of these Guidelines. Overview Grants are designed to address issues of ( 1 ) recruitment and initiation or ( 2 ) expansion of existing hockey programs within community minor hockey programs in Canada and the continental United States. The RBC Play Hockey Grants are funded by Royal Bank of Canada. Royal Bank of Canada and its subsidiaries who operate under the global RBC brand are committed to supporting endeavors that empower organizations to make a difference in their communities and inspire others. Grants are intended to strengthen sport and wellbeing in the communities where RBC companies do business. Award Categories In its first year ( beginning January 2011 ) Royal Bank of Canada ( RBC ) will distribute up to $1,000,000 CDN in funds dedicated to the Program. The Grants will be distributed as follows: Up to 40 grants per year each up to a maximum of $25,000 CDN. Grants may be awarded in the amounts of $5,000, $10,000 or $25,000CDN respectively Process : How to apply Applications will only be received on-line via the official application form found at rbcplayhockey.com. Faxed or mailed submissions will not be accepted. Selection Criteria: The greatest priority will be given to proposals that focus on helping to build and encourage hockey at all levels and to those proposals that aim to get more people playing hockey, with a particular emphasis on proposals for increasing access or involvement for girls and women, First Nations/ aboriginal peoples and visible minorities Grant applications may be for funding ongoing program operations, program initiation or development or for a specific capital investment/improvement relating to the sport of hockey. Other factors influencing Grant selection may include, but are not limited to : Providing a safe, sportsman-like and welcoming environment Demonstrating innovation in program delivery Rallying community support through a matching dollars program Strong volunteer participation Demonstrating strong community management and good governance All successful Grant recipients and their communities will also receive: A letter of congratulations from RBC. 6/10

Select Grant recipients and their communities may also receive: Promotion in select media and public relations activities A featured presence on rbcplayhockey.com Recognition in the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, Canada Process : Application Review Twice annually ( see Submission Period/Program Year ), the Selection Committee ( Committee ) will evaluate applications for the Program Grants. Any organization that meets the eligibility criteria ( see Eligibility: Who can apply ) may submit an application. Only fully completed applications will be reviewed by the Committee. The Committee is comprised of individuals selected by RBC, in its sole discretion, who have a particular expertise or knowledge in sport of hockey and/or in the development and organization of grassroots hockey or community programming. Once the Committee has reviewed eligible applications the Committee will make its decisions, which decisions are final and binding in all respects and not subject to appeal. Only applicants being given final consideration for grants will be notified by telephone and in writing to ensure acceptance of these Guidelines. With Grant recipient approval, and only in connection with this Program, Grant recipient names and program details will be publicly recognized. Applications will not be carried forward to future Program Years. Eligibility : Who Can Apply Community organizations, teams or clubs that meet the following requirements are eligible for the RBC Play Hockey TM Grants Program : Must be located in Canada or the continental United States. Must provide programming, facilities or support for the game of hockey The applicant submitting the application must be the age of majority in the province, state or territory in which he/she resides and in which the program will run/is running. Eligible applicants include : Sports associations and Leagues Municipal Parks and Recreation Departments Community Centres Public Schools Sports Clubs Sports Councils City/Community run Sports Programs Boys and Girls clubs Any group that organizes community-based sport/ recreation Individuals (please note: if you are not affiliated with one of the above listed organizations you will be required to provide additional references) 7/10

RBC does not provide Grants to support: Political organizations or parties Programs that have religious or sectarian elements or outcomes Organizations whose primary purpose is lobbying or political action Endowments Private (fee-based) schools Any organization that has received an RBC Play Hockey TM Grant in the previous year Submission Period/ Program Year The inaugural year for the RBC Play Hockey TM Grants Program will run from December 23, 2010 September 30, 2011 ( Program Year ). Applications will be received online at rbcplayhockey.com beginning December 23, 2010 and applications received before March 1, 2011 will be eligible for consideration in both of the two ( 2) Grant selection periods during that Program Year. Grants will be awarded twice in each Program Year. The Committee will select the first round of Grant recipients in March 2011 with successful recipients notified in April 2011. Submissions made after midnight E.S.T. on February 28, 2011 will only be eligible for the second Grant selection in the Program Year. Application period for the 2011 Program Year ends at midnight EST on September 30, 2011. The Committee will select the second round of Grant recipients in October 2011 with successful recipients notified in November 2011. Applications not selected in the first round of Grants in a Program Year will be automatically eligible for the second round of Grant selections in that same Program Year. Only one Grant will be awarded per recipient per Program Year. Only applicants being given final consideration for grants will be contacted Applications will not be carried forward to future Program Years. Privacy / Right to Publicize Information submitted with an application will be used only for the purpose of determining eligibility for a Grant under this Program. With consent, RBC and the Committee may also seek third party verification of application content including, but not limited to, testimonials and references. RBC has the right to publicize the details of any Grants it awards under the Program. This many include but is not limited to, making public the name of the organization, the amount of the Grant and details of the program in news releases or publications, on RBC websites or in interviews RBC grants to media. By submitting an application the applicant agrees to such collection, use and publication without further compensation. Conditions of Entry The applicant warrants that the information presented in the application is true, complete and accurate to the best of the applicant s knowledge. If necessary, the applicant will provide confirmation of any material fact or information contained in the application and, if requested by the Committee, provide additional supporting documentation or other relevant information to enable the Committee to make its decision. The applicant warrants that he/she has the authority to speak for and bind the organization on whose behalf he/she is submitting the Grant application and that the applicant has consent of the organization to submit this application. The applicant and the organization he/she represents, grant Royal Bank of Canada and its subsidiaries and agents the right to use any of the materials provided by the applicant for promotional, media, and broadcast purposes in relation to the Program without further compensation. If RBC determines that the information contained in an application is false or inaccurate, RBC reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to declare the application ineligible. The checkmark on the online application form certifies an acceptance of these RBC Play Hockey TM Grants Application Guidelines. Judging Process: How the Voting Process Works At the conclusion of each of the submission periods during the Program year, the Committee will vote on the eligible submissions using a points system based on criteria set out above (Selection Criteria). The applications with the highest total points will be awarded Grants, subject to confirmation of eligibility and agreement to the terms of these Guidelines. Recipient Responsibilities RBC Play Hockey TM Grants recipients will receive 75% of the Grant award at the time of selection. Grant recipients will be required to prepare a final report on the use of the funds and highlighting successes, challenges and plans for the future. A template of the final report will be provided to grant recipients. The report must be submitted to the Program prior to receiving the remaining portion of the Grant. Upon receiving and reviewing the report, the remaining 25% of the funds will be forwarded to the Grant recipient. Other Matters No responsibility is assumed by RBC, its respective affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotional agencies, its respective directors, officers, employees and assigns, for any disruption to telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software or failure of any entry to be received because of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof, as well as lost, incomplete, destroyed, misdirected, illegible or late entries which for any reason are not received. Submissions shall not be returned. RBC : may terminate or withdraw this Program at any time without notice. reserves the right to modify the Program and these Guidelines or cancel the Program for any reason whatsoever, including extending the time for submissions, without need of individual notice. Any changes to the Program will be posted to www.rbcplayhockey.com. assumes no liability or responsibility for an applicant s attempts to participate in this Program or to download or upload any information necessary to participate in this Program. 9/10

By submitting a Grant application under this Program, the applicant agrees to hold RBC, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotional agencies, their respective directors, officers, employees and assigns, harmless from and against any and all claims and liability arising out of or in any way connected with the operation of this Program and use of any Grant. Applicants assume all liability for any injury or damage caused, or claimed to be caused, by participation in this Program or use of a Grant. This Program and these Guidelines shall be exclusively governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any litigation must be initiated in the City of Toronto in Ontario, Canada. Submission of an application constitutes acceptance of and agreement to these Guidelines. This Program is void where prohibited or otherwise restricted by law. 10/10
