XV INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF ACAROLOGY
Dear Colleagues I extend a very cordial invitation to all interested persons to participate in the XV International Congress of Acarology (XV ICA) at the Topkapı Palace Hotel in historic, enchanting Antalya, Turkey from 2-8 September, 2018. This extraordinary congress venue provides outstanding accommodation, the latest conference facilities and a wide range of leisure opportunities in a marvellous seaside setting. XV ICA, themed The Acari: Very small but impossible to deny!, will bring together a diverse and dynamic group of science, academic, farming, industry, government, health and community sector representatives from all continents. In the big picture, the congress will facilitate local, regional and international research collaboration and information transfer that achieves improved social, environmental and economic outcomes. We are now just 12 months from the congress so the organising committee is busy with the process of engaging invited speakers, negotiating with potential sponsors and promoting the congress through the acarology network, various media platforms and government agencies. Sessions and symposia will cover all topics listed on the congress website. If you are interested in convening a symposium, please contact the science secretary at ica2018turkey@gmail.com by 22 December, 2017 to register the topic and get the process underway. Please also note that the abstract deadline is 1 March, 2018. General Information Official Language Official language of the conference is English. Travel & Visa Please contact the nearest Turkish Embassy or Consulate in your area to obtain the latest information about visa requirements and applications. For more information http://www.mfa.gov.tr/visa-information-for-foreigners.en.mfa Health and Insurance The participants are requested to arrange their own insurance for health, travel and property. The Organising Committee will not accept any liability for personal injuries, loss or damage of property. Currency and Money Exchange The unit of currency is the Turkish Lira (TL). The exchange rates are published daily. Banks can exchange foreign currency and travelers checks with your passport as proof of identity. The most widely accepted credit cards are Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Exchange offices in touristic places are generally open until midnight. Banks are open Monday to Friday from 9:30 to 12:00 and from 13:00 to 17:00. Electrical Supply The voltage in Turkey is 220 volts AC, 50Hz and the plugs are European two round pin type.
