Develops the performance improvement program in coordination with the PI Director/committee. Acts as a liaison between patients/families/physicians/administration. Monitors facility quality/utilization and case management measures. Assists administrators, case managers and the Nurse Executive in determining appropriate Medicare utilization and appropriate responses to Medicare denials. Actively markets and advocates the Rehabilitation Services Department to physicians, discharge planners, community organizations, home health agencies and other organizations, as indicated in collaboration with the Rehabilitation Services Department Marketing Coordinator. Demonstrates the ability to apply therapeutic principles and practices; uses appropriate technical knowledge and clinical judgment in observing patient's reaction to treatments specific to the needs of the patient. Demonstrates ability to design treatment programs for patients with varying degrees/types of disabilities and multiple medical problems. Demonstrates accuracy in performing patient evaluations; interprets results within scope of licensure. Demonstrates the ability to instruct patient/family in home treatment programs. Expresses the knowledge/ability to make home/job modifications for the patient. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of infection control practices; Standard Precautions. Demonstrates the ability to delegate duties; makes staff assignments allowing appropriate amount of time for preparation and completion of tasks. Coordinates and reassesses schedule with staff throughout the day. Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to be a resource person for staff members, physicians and the facility. Maintains a system of checking patient charges on a daily basis ensuring correct charges are made and entered in the computer system.
