NAMIC members met to establish goals for the year and to network to help ensure multi-ethnic diversity in the communications industry. The Reception was a networking event for all NAMIC national members and the kick-off to the multi-day National Conference. On November 29, 2012, SiriusXM co-sponsored the National Black MBA Association of Metro New York 2012 Gala and Awards event at the Manhattan Penthouse, 80 th Avenue, New York, NY. The Gala was a year-end recognition event for members, sponsors, and students that contributed greatly to the goal of providing career development and broadening professional influence for minorities. The students were also given a tour of the broadcast facilities. On November 9, 2012, SiriusXM hosted a group of students from Greenwich High School (Greenwich, CT). Participants from the employment unit included the Manager, Internship & College Programs, a Music Programming Coordinator, and an HR Intern. The visit included a presentation about SiriusXM and the company s internship program, career paths within the company, and a question and answer session. The students were also given a tour of the broadcast facilities. On December 3, 2012, SiriusXM hosted a group of students from Bergen County College (Paramus, NJ). Participants from the employment unit included the Manager, Internship & College Programs, and a Program Director, Music. The visit included a presentation about SiriusXM and the company s internship program, career paths within the company, and a question and answer session. The students were also given a tour of the broadcast facilities. 16 Host Internship Programs (3) During this reporting period, SiriusXM hosted a total of 290 interns in the Spring, Summer and Fall 2012 Internship Programs at its New York offices. The interns participated in several departments at Sirius XM, including Programming (Music, Talk, Sports), Marketing, Accounting/Finance, and Engineering. Interns were assigned to one department based on their area of interest. Each intern was trained and supervised by a departmental mentor in the operations of the department. The students hailed from schools nationwide, which include, but are not limited to, New York University, Pace University, Hofstra University, Rutgers University.
