For Example: First year with hostel will pay 1,550,400-50,400 = 1,500,000 2. Other costs i. Accommodation Students wishing to stay at Institute s hostel will pay 100,000 per semester for bed only. Payment should be made through the bank as described in 1.1 above. ii. Meals Low priced, quality meals are available at the Institutes canteen at student s cost; at least, 5000 shillings per day will be needed. iii. Stationery 2
Writing material- at least 5 counter books per semester Pens Folders, paper punch etc 3. Items for clinical training (ACOs and COs training) At the beginning of the 2 nd semester a student will be required to bring the following items: A white coat A clinical thermometer A stethoscope Other items as may be recommended by the lecturer 4. Personal items On campus students are required to bring the following personal items: i. A mattress- 6feet x 3feet, 6inches thickness and ii. A square mosquito net 6ft lengthx4ft breadth and lot less than 6 ft height. The mattress and net is property of the student that they will go away with after graduation iii. Toilet and laundry soap, tooth brushes, toilet sandals and toilet paper 5. Institute regulations Registration of student will be deemed complete, after the student has read, understood and signed that they will abide to the following regulations to be provided at the time of registration: i. Attending lectures and other training sessions Attending class is mandatory. Class attendance is part of student s GPA score. Students will sign an attendance register on class days. Not showing up in class will have a negative impact on the student s overall GPA score. ii. Dress code Both male and female students should put on decent uniform; the type that does not unduly expose their bodies. Institute Uniform A pair of school uniform will be needed at the minimum For male clinical officer students (ACO/CO), a pair of white shirts and khaki trousers For female clinical officer students, a pair of white gown 3
For male community health students, a pair green shirts and trousers For female community health students, a pair green gown Black shoes for all iii. Institute property Deliberate damage of property will be regarded as serious and punishable offence. Theft or pinching of the institute s property will attract serious repercussion including legal prosecution iv. Peaceful co-existent The use of foul language and/or physical violence against fellow student(s) or member of staff for any reason whatsoever is not allowed and is a sign of bad behavior of the perpetrator. Any dispute can and should be solved by dialogue and not confrontation. v. Interference and obstruction of Institute activities. It is not allowed to obstruct lawful activity that is carried out by a student or staff. 6. For On- Campus (Hostel) students i. Students should be in their hostel compound by 8.00pm on weekdays and 10.00pm on weekends ii. Taking care of hostel property iii. Sensible use of electricity electrical appliances Switch off the lights and other equipment when you go out of the room or when not needed for example lights-on during daytime The use of the following electric gadgets is allowable- cloth irons, electric jug/kettle, radio, phones, razor iv. Cooking Students are not allowed to do cooking at hostel premises, irrespective of the source of cooking energy used (gas, charcoal or electricity) v. Noise It not allowed making loud and unbearable noise such as from sound making devicese.g. radio, phone, music system etc vi. Sleeping out Students are not allowed to sleep out of the hostel without a written permission from the school administration vii. Cleanliness of hostels 4
Students will be responsible for keeping their rooms clean and tidy. The cleaner will be only responsible to clean toilets viii. Entertaining of guests at hostel premises Guests are not allowed inside the hostel rooms at all times, however, guests may be seen outside the hostel rooms during daytime and after permission is granted by the matron/patron. ix. Staying at hostels during vacations Students who wish to remain staying at a hostel during vacation should seek permission at least a week before the vacation starts Carrying of dangerous weapons Carrying a dangerous weapon e.g a panga, pistol, etc is serious offence and is prohibited 7. Disciplinary authority Disciplinary action will be taken in breach of these basic regulations of the Institute. A Committee made of members from the management and the student s organization shall sit and deliberate on infringements. 8. Penalties These range from reprimand, Suspension, Expulsion, Compensation of damaged, or an intervention from state law enforcement organs shall be done according to the seriousness and gravity of the offence. 9. Rights and privileges of the student The student will have the following rights and privileges: Right to worship Choice of accommodation Freedom of association Access to teaching and recreational facilities Right to appeal against a disciplinary measure 10. Registration Registration is necessary for your recognition as bona fide student of the Institute. The following items are needed to complete a registration: i. A filled out registration form ii. Academic certificates (form four and/or form 6 -original and a copy iii. Four passport size photos iv. A birth certificate- original and copy v. An original copy of a bank pay- slip of fully paid semester fees 5
