Guidelines Following these national guidelines will increase the quality of the program available to the Scouts, and is necessary in order to recognize volunteers with Wood Badge Beads. 1. Participation in the annual Region/Area NYLT Conferences is encouraged for professional staff advisors, and required for volunteers in order to be recognized with Wood Badge Beads. 2. Local traditional names will be phased out effective for 2009 courses in favor of the consistent name NYLT. Joint names (i.e.: Brownsea NYLT) are no longer to be used. 3. The NYLT syllabus must be adhered to in its entirety. 4. As a part of staff development, all youth and adult NYLT staff complete the Trainer s Edge. 5. NYLT courses will have between 30 and 48 participants. Courses with larger or smaller participant populations should be discussed with the Area or Region NYLT Coordinator. 6.
