Royal London Hospital, St Bartholomew s Hospital and at specified locations in other hospitals Manages: irect reports: N/A Indirect reports: N/A Aim of the role To undertake operational activities within the quality control laboratory, inclusive of routine and non-routine analytical testing (Chemical and Microbiological). To undertake technical projects within quality control to support quality improvement, operational efficiency and cost reduction programs. To support the nvironmental Monitoring & Sterility Assurance programs across BHP and with eternal users as per SLAs. Carry out periodic equipment performance checks. Responsible for ensuring that all work is scheduled and documentation is produced, checked and completed at the correct time to the correct standard. Main duties and responsibilities 1. Log-in products and raw materials received in the laboratory for testing and any other administrative duties which may become necessary. Sample raw materials for testing and quarantine materials prior to release. 2. Coordinate the dispatch of samples to eternal laboratory contractors and maintain laboratory records and documentation. 3. Undertake analytical testing of raw materials and finished pharmaceutical products using comple analytical methods e.g. High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). 4. Undertake the microbiological environmental monitoring and broth testing activities both within and eternal to Trust pharmacy production areas including e.g. the Central Production Unit, the Stem Cell Laboratory, Radiopharmacy and IVF unit. 5. Assist in method development and the conduct of stability assessments of new and established products. Participate fully in deviation reporting procedures and corrective and preventative actions. Undertake Laboratory Investigations in response to out-ofspecification and out-of-trend events. 6. Collates and reviews documentation to approve the release of raw materials and low risk final products such as repacked/relabelled and non-sterile products manufactured within the Trust. 7. Participates in the provision of QC/QA services to other departments, hospitals and Trusts in accordance with Service Level Agreements. 8. Carry out weekly and monthly checks and calibrations on laboratory instruments such as FT Infra-red and UV spectrophotometer in accordance with SOP s. nsure that all equipment, reagents and materials used in quality testing are prepared, maintained and documented in compliance with SOP s.

9. Assist in the preparation and review of QC/QA and laboratory documentation including procedures, raw material & product test specifications, and supporting training documentation. 10. Assist in the preparation, eecution and reporting of validation activities relating to methods, equipment and facilities, under the guidance of more senior staff. 11. Work according to the full range of technical and pharmacy codes and procedures, to ensure that established standards, procedures & systems of work are adhered to at all times, thus ensuring compliance with GLP/GMP, Health and Safety at Work Act and COSHH. 12. Works within operational parameters, agreed standard procedures and systems of work at all times thus ensuring a high level of GMP and safety is maintained. 13.
