Request for Proposal Page 4 Introduction and Executive Summary The is seeking to contract with DECAL approved trainers with a Level II or III designation to offer workshops approved by DECAL during the calendar year 2014. The workshops will be held at our main training facility located at 385 Centennial Olympic Park Drive or at a location to be determined by GTI. Professional development is a critical key to child and family outcomes so that children enter school ready and are able to read at grade-level by third grade. Business Overview & Background Sheltering Arms Sheltering Arms is a private, nonprofit corporation with a continuous 125-year history, governed by a volunteer Board of Directors representing the academic, volunteer, professional, philanthropic, corporate, civic, government, and faith communities. Sheltering Arms is dedicated to promoting school readiness, supporting and engaging families of young children, training teachers and staff in child and family serving organizations, and reaching out to partner with the community. Our services have included Early and Preschool Head Start since 1999. Sheltering Arms effectively blends and braids funding to provide a seamless service of Early and Preschool Head Start, the Georgia Pre-Kindergarten program, and quality child care, which meets the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation standards. The Georgia Training Institute (GTI) at Sheltering Arms grew out of a community need to provide professional development across the state. GTI is now a leader in highquality professional development for early care and education and family-service professionals in Georgia. GTI builds community capacity in advancing positive outcomes for children and families in Georgia, by providing research-based professional development opportunities in early care and education and family development. GTI supports the network of Sheltering Arms own early education and family centers as it strives to model best practices in these fields.
Request for Proposal Page 5 Assumptions & Constraints Workshop rates should be inclusive of all expenses related to effectively conducting the workshop, including travel. The trainer will be expected to provide a copy of the handouts for approval at least one week prior to the class. The trainer will be expected to arrive one hour prior to the start of the class and to stay one hour past the end of the class for face-to-face classes for participant interactions and for set up/ clean up. For online/distance formats, the trainer will be expected to be present at least 30 minutes for pre & post class time and be available to the registered participants for questions and answers. The trainer will be expected to set up their classroom for interactive instruction both in the physical, face-to-face format and in an online/distance learning format. Trainers may not charge or collect fees or market or sell products during the workshops. GTI will arrange for the space, market the class, register participants, collect fees, make handouts up to ten (10) pages, provide a minimum amount of table toys, flip charts, markers, a LCD projector, conduct an evaluation, and post handouts on our website. Detailed Specifications Please submit a proposal to include: Name, Trainer Designation and Code Resume, including experience in adult learning Workshops to be considered by GTI to be offered during the calendar year 2014 at one of our Sheltering Arms locations or a location to be determined by GTI o Workshop descriptions for consideration should include the title, designated level, approval code, number of hours, objectives, ECE competency, and target audience Rates for conducting each of the proposed workshops References
Request for Proposal Page 6 Terms and Conditions GTI will pay 50% of the rate when the workshop is scheduled and at least 5 participants are registered. The final 50% will be paid within one week of the conclusion of the workshop. Selection Criteria GTI will select qualified trainers based on the current need and availability of funds to offer one or more courses during calendar year 2014. The experience of the trainer will be a key factor in selection.
